Watching that wannabe Muslim program on C4. It's all a bit indoctrinating. Manipulative, brain washing is how it comes across to me. Breaking people's resistance down till they have no fight left in them and it becomes a way of life.

Now I don't like religion not because of anything other than the evils that are done in its name, whether that's 9/11 or the spanish crusades. Religion has a lot to answer for.

Absolutely agree BillAbong i'm half muslim and went 2 mosque and some of the kids were brainwashed but i could see through the mosque teachers because of all the terrorism now and everything people r turning their backs on muslims and i don't think it's fair cuz the people that r doing it r giving their religion a bad name!.

Children are brainwashed all the time. From birth things are instilled in them, not just through religion mind. Boys have guns and wear blue, girls dolls and pink. But when they have the doctrin of religion behind them and the threat of eternal damnation it isn't really fair. Islam, Christianity, Judaism, they are all to blame. The more devout the worse they get.

One thing I've noticed about Muslims and it is only the lapsed ones is that they can use their faith for their own ends. At my school the school dealer was a muslim and made sure he had all the benefits of ede without any of the sacrifices.

Osama was armed by the CIA and sensibly used those weapons against his suppliers rather than his fellow countrymen. The whole 9/11 and followup I wholeheartedly oppose, but Islam is not to blame, a few megalomaniacs are, Bush being one of them.

I know those arranged marriages 2 if u refuse then ur family turns ur back on u and they will turn 2 violence and then kill you and they get offended by anything recently by that case about the teacher calling the teddy bear Mohammed but most of the muslim kids in our area who i went 2 school and mosque wiv don't care about the mosque or religion now they just like 2 go out wiv their mates and have fun which is really good!.

i think there are many plus points to being a muslim - there commitment is fantastic although I dont think I could ever be converted by some of the leaders on that show. They seem very harsh and the woman was getting on my nerves a bit

Im not religious - i think im what you would call a humanist but my other half is and believe in god so its not really dicussed in our house although we both watched the first of this programme.

i hate all religion. i read a book once about a muslim and it was a really good book and gave me a really good insight. he was a suicide bomber because he thought god did not want us to have material possessions which we didnt need and therefore these people had to die...i dont know that much about the religion though still and i dont even know if that is correct. i also know a lot of muslims are being racially attacked because stupid people think all muslims are terrorists. i think it is unfair that all muslims have to hang this above their heads because i know that most of them are not terrorists and are actually just as affected by terrorism as everyone else.
i dont like religions because in some way i find it racist. it's like we are putting everyone in groups and if you dont like the other groups you can single them out and abuse them for being different to you. i dont like people having to be put in groups. it doesnt make any difference what colour skin you are or what you believe in or what mistakes you've made or owt like that. when it comes down to it we are all the same. we all have the same instincts...
you probably think i'm crazy and this was all about that program and i've made it some debate. i watched some of the program and it just seems none of these people actually want to be part of it. i couldnt be religious. i think in some ways i'd like to be but then i'm contradicting myself.

i would love to say if we banned all religion the world would be a better place but that would cause controversy

i agree higgi 123 my dads a muslim and he don't go 2 mosque that much any more he only goes 4 religious reasons like eid,ramahdan etc but i think no-one cares about religion now cuz no-one has time 4 religion or praying etc cuz people r working,if they've got kids they have 2 look after them kids go out and play and once you've fininshed work u want2 do ur own thing!.

as i've said i'm half muslim through my dad we went 2 mosque only 2 learn about his religion all 6 of us me my 4 bros and 1 sister but we hated it the kids were getting brainwashed by the teachers about other religions so i messed around but he doesn't make us go 2 mosque he lets us do what we want he lets us drink and stuff but we've chosen not 2 believe in his religion but we know lots of muslim people and they r fine with us!.

I don't agree, I don't think religion should be banned alltogether (I am an atheist)

You are forgetting that religion does a lot of good also, it gives people faith and something to aim for. It gives people a reason to live sometimes and a reason not to commit crimes.

Religion shouldn't be banned, it should however be down to freedom of choice and not forced upon people if they choose not to believe in it. Religion isn't the problem, it's people trying to force it down your throat that are.

I do think that trying to integrate peoples who have totally differnt ways of thinking will never work. I do think that as this country absorbs more and more people from abroad that the chances of there being bad times ahead for us increases. Muslims themselves admit that their first duty is to side with other people of the muslim faith. Islam is the only religion that does not recognise country borders. How many British muslims, who are against the Iraq war, are against it on a point of principal? Would they be just as up in arms if we had invaded a predominantly Christian or Jewish nation? I doubt it. Many muslims took part in that 1 million person march through London in the week that Tony Blair was to make the decision about invading Iraq. How many muslims did you see on marches in the 1970's and 1980's that demanded that British troops be withdrawn from Northern Ireland, for example? None I am sure. They were against it because Iraq is a mainly muslim country, that's all.

To have a situation where we may have 10 million muslims living in Britain in a few decades time (we now have the highest immigration into Britain for over one thousand years) is something that does frighten me. Although I respect every religion (I personally don't believe in god myself though) I find Islam completely incompatible with the western way of thinking. I also hold the view that muslim people in the UK would like eveything changed in order to accomodate them and the more the numbers increase the more likelihood there is of that happening. Governments seem to bend over backwards to accomodate immigrants all over the western world. In America they say 'happy holidays' rather than 'Christmas', the President talks of 'the holiday season' - he never says 'Christmas', and all American Christmas cards omit mention of the word 'Christmas'. That is starting to happen here. People talk of the 'Christian new testament' rather than 'the new testament' like they did until recently.

All the Christmas cards sent out by the Royal Family this year never mentioned Christmas on them. It will only take another 5 years in Britain before it's all 'holidays' here aswell - rather than 'Christmas' just like in America. I can see Fridays becoming a main worship just as much as Sundays are before long. All of this is done in order to accomodate incomers, without one member of the indiginous population ever being asked. Muslims tend to be self-seperatists and are reluctant to assimilate. There is nothing anyone can do though as we have no power. Governments are elected by a minority of the people (Labour only got 36% in 2005) and they do whatever they like - against the wishes of most of the people. The two biggest fears that British people have, and this is born out in poll after poll that is taken, are: mass
out-of-control immigration and climate change. All the people can do though is talk about it, no one can influence anything as the Government just does whatever it wants. I saw this week that in 1,300 schools in Britain English is spoken by only a minority of the kids. Britain is changing and there is nothing anyone can do.

Anyone got any views on what I say above ?
