How am I meant to GET experience if no one will employ me as I have none!!! Argh!! It's a horrible, horrible catch 22!!!

I left 6th form in june and have had 2 jobs since then. The first one I was at for less than a month because because they treated me terribly and the second one I was at for 2 weeks as it was only a temp one. People have been saying one will turn up for months now and nothing has.

I'm sure something will.

Why don't you go to a temping agency, seeing as you've already temped...

They might be able to get you some jobs, and you will get more experience.

I absolutely hated the temping. They treated me so nasty. I was nothing to them.

You'll just have to keep looking.

You can't be too choosy And everyone has start somewhere. Temp while you're still looking for work. it will be a good thing to put on your CV.

When i left college years back i tried to look for admin/secretarial jobs after i left college but i got rejected because i had no experience, like you.

So i thought let me get experience doing SOMETHING. i applied for a job in a department store in the Childrenswear dept and surprisingly i got it. I enjoyed the job for the first few years but then i hated it after a while and started looking for another job. Now i am happy i got the job i wanted and its all because i worked my way up the ladder - so to speak.

Occys thoughts on this are clear.

SJP is correct in her thining that any experience is better than none so it would be good to go to a temp agency and get some experience (and money) while you are busy applying for the kind of jobs that you really want to go for.

As time passes you'll be doing different jobs which require differnt skills and that's all good colaterall for your CV.

Octavian has carried out numerous interviews for his "real life" job and he can tell you that whilst experience is something that everyone looks for, a track record of employment is also key so keeping yourself out of work because of a few bad temping experiences may be doing you no good at all.

Occy likes you very much Starflake and he wants you to get a job that you're happy with but that may mean that you need to get back on that temping wagon for a little while longer.

You never know....one of the jobs they offer you may well be something that you enjoy doing.
