it looks like, if some don't know that jonathan kent dies, although this not suprising as he dies around this time in the movies. the producer of smallville also says that this may not be the only death in this series, my thinking is that near the end it will be lionel luthor. also some that said this may be the last season of this hit show, it was hinted that a sixth series will be made in a tv guide interview, news can be found at kryptonsite.com.

I thought that Chloe knowing his secret and being the reporter that Lois needs to become was a bit of a death-sentence, so I kind of think it may be her that goes

And where do you get off on telling us that we are not Smallville fans?
I have been a Smallville fan since it started in the UK and have been a Superman fan since the "Crisis on Infinite Earths" & my 'guess' comes from Jeph Loeb wanting to keep fairly true to the current Superman Mythology. The Chloe Sullivan character never existed in the comic books and, she's a relation of Lois,(his future wife) who is in love with Clark AND knows his secret. It's not a healthy situation for longevity...
Also in the comic book mythology(which rewrote the mythology after the films) Johnathan and Martha are both present whilst Clark is an adult, in fact Johnathan was instrumental in Clark returning to life in the "Doomsday" story.
I tlooks like now that it is Chloe that dies hence the spoilers being posted and only her name mentioned, maybe trying to throw us off the scent. Plus Lana finds out Clarks secret in episode 12 when he proposes and apparantly says no (this is all just rumours at the mo but I guess we'll see after watching it in a couple o weeks). Looks like the Lana/Lex coupling could be happening.
