I kinda enjoyed it, even if it was a little predictable. The official description said that Lionel will channel Jor-El again, but I don't remember that happening. I thought it would at the end outside of LuthorCorp when he turned up and would then save Chloe, but alas all the principal characters look in peril at the moment.
I wished that they'd gotten someone to play Zod rather than the Vessel idea, but Rosenbaum was quite good as Zod.
It's gonna take something special to get Clark out of the PZ.

Did anyone else see the trailer for this episode on the web? When I saw the episode itself, the scene with Lex emerging from the cocoon type shell wasn't in it, nor was Fine telling Clark "You're to late Kal-El."
Did I just miss these in the cut of the episode I saw, or were these scenes just not in there at all???

All I can say about the finale is WOW. I thought it was a great episode and Clark getting sent to the Phantom Zone is a fab ending. We all know he'll get out of there but wondering how is good. Also loved the kiss between Chloe and Clark, I'm thinking that's the lead up to the Chlark romance Al/Miles were hinting about
Only 4 months till the next season and with Big Brother all summer and the Superman film time will fly lol
If there is one thing Smallville can do right is finales. It was a good start to season 5,but midway through and towards the end it went back into average territory.

I don't think Clark was very moved by the Chloe kiss as she wasn't wearing one of her usual outfits highlighting her cleavage. I think this was the key factor.
Lex/Zod's leather coat made him look a little like Zod in Superman II which was quite cool. Slightly typical that Lana stands by her man, after Clark has angsted for years about the same thing. Also, how dumb is Lana. She is warned about Lex, and he reveals all his powers, just as the Metropolis and other major cities go into crisis. Surely she can see waht is going on????
Why didn't Lionel channel Jor-El or vice versa at the end, to save himself and Chloe, and then descend the steps of LuthorCorp to face his old enemy Zod? Or is that the opener for season 6. Let's hope!

Sadly Krekk I must confirm for you that Lex did not flash anyone while wearing his leather coat.
I understand however that Gough/Millar/Rosenbaum are discussing the possibilty of Lex flashing Clark in the new series, and Rosenbaum is keen on this new and interesting character development.
Hope this brings a smile to your face!

As strange as it sounds, I hope Clark doesn't escape straight away. It will be much better if the others have to cope with what Brainiac and Zod have unleashed, and it will give us a chance to see Lionel as Jor-El and how he deals with it instead.
