The only fair-ish way to think about that would be if you were to say that Lana still has the rest of her life ahead of her and Johnathon has had most of his. So he was right to save Lana, but i dunno because that's his dad. It's just too hard
Sorry smallville addicted but its just that, that would be the most impossible choice for clark its practically like him choosing between his parents who should die, so I think your question was good but if we ahve to look at it from clarks point of view then its simply too hard man, nothing bad meant and if you have taken offence in any way then sorry.

Hey sunoit did i read further up that you would choose lana?.Careful mate i think your going soft. By the bye if he had not saved lana they both would have died ,you see his father would have died no matter what, that is what clark set in motion when he relinquished his powers at the start of season five.Lana's accident was down to lex,the fact that Jor-el allowed clark to save her was a good will gesture on his part, knowing what clark was about to face very shortly afterwards.

i think you guys are miss something-you need to understand one thing when clark choose to save lana in season 5 he didn't know he would loose his dad in fact he knew it would be someone close to him but there are not the only choices.
Choices are
Matha kent Chole sullivan johnthan kent pete Lois jimmy Lioneal luthor kypto-the dog
i dont know why they even introduced him into the show.
because writer were drunk one night thought it would be funny
I think it's what the writers call a filler episode,on season five dvd remember writers laughing at episode five 'thirst' and saying how bad it was and that it was a filler episode,'we couldn't think of anything else at the time'.

Actually pete is gone so clark would most likely not know if he were to die and also jimmy is not and was not in season 5 and also clark only grows slightly closer to him in the original superman mythology not in smallville as he does not really work with him so i can not imagine clark being very close to him especially as he goes out wioth chloe for a short while in season 6 and clark is wondering wheter he still likes her or not.
