By Loius I assume you mean Lois. It's good that she's in Smallville, and even better that it is played out that her and Clark hate each other.
Jonathan dying follows the Superman mythology after the 'Crisis on Infinite Earths' rewrite, which cleared up alot of inconsistencies in previous comics. This represented a shift for Clark/Superman, as one of the fundamental differences between the two was that one had his parents in his life, i.e. Clark, and the other didn't, i.e. Bruce Wayne.
And, if you don't want to know what happens in Smallville you've not seen, don't read spoilers or episode discussions of those you haven't watched.
