Just a little extra on season eight, the producers are attempting to sign kk for the first third of season eight and are trying to sign mr for either eighteen eps or if he will not go for that eleven eps.To compensate for kk's departure the writers are introducing a love interest for clark , that being lori lemaris , part of dc comics myth. She is a mermaid from atlantis who poses as someone in a wheelchair to hide her form , clark falls in love but it all ends in tears, ah well.

I suppose it will be a nice repireve, as I for one am getting a bit bored of Lana again, it is always nice to see a small change every now and again.

True, but does any one else get the impression that the writers are scrabbling about a bit for things to put in season 8?

I suppose but then, youve got to think, that if it is a hit and seen as the best season ever then I reckon eveyr ones minds will change and people will start saying the writers new what they were doing all along, I wont mind an extra season, so long as they do actually tie up ALL of the LOOSE ends and give clark a proper send off, hint hint a flying one.

After watching Hero I think it's safe to say that a) They have been scrabbling for things to put in for years, and b) the writers never have and never will have a clue what they are doing. If Smallville wasn't about the future Superman (yes, really it is) it would have been cancelled years ago.

I have to agree that hero seemed a bit rushed, but it did give very quick reminders as to whats happened, the kara story better end soon, as lex faking to be good again is getting on my nerves, it is better when he is a bad character and no one likes him, as it should be, nice to see lionel holding info from clark for albeit unknown reasons, but still I do wonder why he had that in his safe. All in all, 5/10, and i think thats a bit generous.

7 and a half seasons in and they don't even know the rules - Kryptonite only glows when it is reacting to Kryptonian blood, so why did Pete's chewing gum glow everytime he took a piece out? Gough and Miller are idiots.

This all sounds mildily depressing, I think that they should make season 8 the end but like sunoit said they should tie up all the loose ends and go out with a bang, before Smallville becomes a big bloated mess.

yup your right, last season, last episode they should finish all the plots (if there are any good ones at the time) and sees clark leaving the farm by flying to the city! and who cares about the flying rule! the writers have enough money to help them if they get sued!

LOL true true, You know I heard a rumour and saw an advert that suggested clark flying in 7*15, which is called Veratis, God Damn that would be good if it were true.

If the rumor is true that WB have lost the rights to Superman franchise(Daily Star) then S8 could very well be the last. Tom Welling is getting kind of old for the teenager role heh.
|
| |
|

|
March 2008 .Warner have not lost the rights to superman ,according to a court ruling the family of jerry siegel who sold the rights to the action hero for $130 seventy years ago were entitled to claim a share of the usa copyright to the character. The ruling left intact time warners international rights which it has long owned through dc comics. The question to be resolved is since 1999 when ownership is said to have been restored is whether the heirs are entitled to payments directly from time warners film unit which took $200 million at the box office for superman returns or only from the dc unit's superman profits.
So no change of ownership as such ,hope that clears it up.

That said now it is confirmed gough and millar have departed and will not have any input to season eight will it make any difference .Executive producers, todd slavin, darren swimmer, kelly souders and brian peterson will oversee the season and as they have answered to gough and millar for several seasons previous regarding the nature of the story i really don't see much of a change.
|
| |
|

|
Very interesting so gough and miller have left, but then again from what has been going around I can gather that they will be going in to season 8 with a depleted cast.

Oh dear, just read an alarming piece on the 'smallville ph ' site which explains why gough and millar left , 0r theories at least .The one which made me sit up was the 'cw', because of cash flow want to make season eight at season one prices, that is why people will be missing and some never to return ,because the producers have to pay season eight prices it's a question of paying people the proper going rate or bringing them back for less episodes next year or cutting them out completely .If the cast return then the production of the show will suffer in the writing ,special effects so on and so forth. As for the story brian peterson who will be the next big cheese has stated 'the things i think i can hint at are the lois and clark of it all '.
God that was almost twenty years ago my advice would be if you cannot come up with anything original please end it sooner rather than later.

Another theory - which makes total sense - is that Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum have both grown tired of the lack of direction for their characters, which would explain why Tom has refused to promote the show since falling out with Gough/Millar mid-season 6. He shares the fans concerns that his character has become a mopey bi*ch, and also feels that the storylines are being repeated. Gough and Millar also had their outline for season 8 rejected because it was rubbish.....it's a shame that it took the WB/CW so long to realise it

I hope that season 7 is the end, it is painful seeing it being dragged out like this. I hope that they see sense and let smallville go out with the end it deserves while it still has some dignity intact.

well i think the same, just finsh the show at season 7 while its still got some dignity. or if anyone is willing to do it get some new writers! as the sound of things Gough and Miller has lost their spark.
