I think its hard to say who is the best after watching the Greatest Actor on Sunday night, I have so many favourites. I think the show got it dead right, think Marlon Brando has always been the best, but he is now dead. So who could have the potential to be as good as he. I know that Johnny Depp has a different style to Brando De Niro Al Pacino etc. But I think for overall effort, choosing excellent roles, not going for the quick buck. Remember he is supposed to have turned down Speed, which anyone would have seen as a potential hit. He has learned his craft bit by bit getting better over the years (although to see Edward Scissorhands you wouldn't think he was only starting off in his career). Films like E. Scissorhands, Benny and Joon, Whats Eating Gibert Grape, Chocolate, Donnie Brasco, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, From Hell, Finding Neverland and Pirates of the Caribbean and these are just a few. I think for the quality of his work in so many films. He is the most exciting actor around today. I am not surprised he was voted number 2 although alot of people seem to be. I know he is only young but all going well he has the potential to be the greatest of all. Because he could potentially have another 30 years left in him and I am sure he will keep making good choices and with his talent the sky is the limit. I was so glad to see so many excellent actors in the top 50. There was no Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis etc. just right. They make lots of money but either do not have talent or choose not to use it. I had decided several years ago that I may never see a decent action movie. I had given up hope that anyone could make a film that had decent characters and plenty of action also. I thought that Arnie and Sylvester had destroyed the action movie for good but I didnt realise that Pirates of the Caribbean was around the corner.
The best action movie in decades, it has great wit, humour, action. Its a real throw back to the old movies. Cant wait for the next one. Just a thought but did anyone think that Sideways was the best picture of 05 I only saw it recently but it was certainly better than Million Dollar Baby, sometimes I dont think Hollywood would know a good film if it bit it in the backside. Anyway I think Sideways is great, its my film of 05.

I would agree with Ed Norton and Tim Roth and De Niro, but not Brad Pit, he could have potential but he is not using it.

Like your choices the only one who hasnt shown much ability yet is Brad Pit, I hope he does because good looking men can do more than look pretty I think he may be a great actor, but he need to prove it.

I gotta put in the word again for my man Mel Blanc. I challenge you to name an actor who created more performances that virtually every english speaking person recognises instantly. He made every character entirely self-sufficcient and (as much as possible) believable.
