All Quiet on the Western Front came in 33rd! Given that it defined the modern war film in many ways, that's a travesty.

And no place for Cross of Iron, Stalingrad or Gettysburg anywhere in the Top 100? And yet Troy is in there? I rest my case.

'Vera (Lynne) Does Dover'. It's a moving, yet hardcore porn film depicting Vera's time in the war.

I was going to say The Deet Hunter because it is by far the best film that involves war in my opinion but since it is not really entirely a "war movie" I guess it would not qualify.

Without a doubt it has to be Casualties of War. This is a powerful film that pulls no punches when showing the horrors and the cruelties of war. It's based on a true story about a group of American soldiers during the Vietnam War who abduct a teen-age Vietnamese girl and drag her on a long-range reconnaissance mission.

They torture, rape and finally murder her. The Michael J Fox character is the only one in the group who refuses to participate in the abuse and fights his commrades and commanding officers to finally get justice for her.

What is really great and different about this movie is that it does not glorify war but instead illustrates how it brutalizes and dehumanizes both the soldier and the civilian.

Michael J Fox and Sean Penn give outstanding performances.

Agreed one of Michaels better films.

Anyone know where I can get a copy of 100 greatest war films? I live in USA and wanted to see it. I missed it last year too, caught the last 20 or so.

Yes, I've read the results.
I'd actually like to see some of the programme itself.
I've checked 4ondemand and other video clips sites.

Just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction. Would be much appreciated Big Grin
