They did have some public information films as part of the 100 scariest moments.

I quite like the road safety one where the boy gets hit by the car and it goes right through him 'cause hes a ghost who was knocked down earlier.

Too right or the one with the kid drowning in a quarry (?), with a Grim Reaper knocking about in it.

I might nominate that German 'safety' at work film - the one about handling tools, chainsaws forklifts etc. (ok it might not count since it wasn't a 'real' safety film. Think Braindead).

There's also some great films by the American army (great for different reasons), one I particularly remember was made by the chemical weapons division (I think in the mid 80's) - I would love to see that again. (Ok I admit its the rubber.)

Hello I have searched the internet for a old public information film that I saw as a child
and it basically consisted of grandad climbing and old step ladder to get a tin of some sort of tin (for his granchildren) then when climbing the ladder her let out this strange ooooooorah! shouting screaming sound then falling bachwards on to a seventies coffee table...Very funny and a little silly.

See theres the problem, people using the wrong tools for the job. A step ladder is completley the wrong thing to use - either the old fella should have stood on the coffee table (if the table did not povide the adequate lift then he should have put a chair on top of the table the climbed on that) or hoisted the kid onto his shoulders so they could reach the tin. Remember ladders are for experts only - stick to furniture when accessing high places at home

I have remembered another PIF (which is not on the Charlie Says volume 1 and 2) where a lone fishermen is sucking his pipe (who does look suspiscously like captain birdseye) sailing his fishing boat happly... But because he was so stupid (did not to use a funnel to put petrol into his the engine) is then horribly blown to smithereens......... It's the same old same old but also very funny...

Does anyone remember the one with the hot iron falling on the baby doll? Or the one where someone (a firemen I think) sets a horrible brown (we had one at the time) sofa alight, to show how long it would take to set the whole living room alight with a fag. Thus pointing out leaving a lit cig downstairs at bedtime can burn the whole house down... Happy Days!

Grandad sat in the chair having a fag after spending the day at a country fair, falls asleep and sets fire to himself! I think the point was meant to be extinguish your cigarette before falling asleep.

Being a little serious. Does anyone remember (I saw it on holiday near the sea) I poster where a young child wearing a yellow mack drowned in the sea or a pool of some sort (in the mid eighties I think) I for the life of me don't know what the point of the poster was but it scared the hell out of me...

Paul Daniels did one where he made parked cars disapear..! Then he would say "If you don't want this vanishing trick to happen to your car. Take better care of it!" Or something on those lines... But that child in the yellow mack still scares me. A bit like the 'Loney Water' one... I like the animated ones with Charlie and the one with those rabbits the best... Does anyone have any memories of the ones about the country code? Or how to use fireworks better?
