I voted for the Sci-Fi but actually when I was a child I watched so many 18 and 15 rated movies and enjoyed them and most of the kids in my primary school were watching stuff like Nightmare on Elm Street.
Either I stayed up really late to watch them or I got them from the video shop. Back in those days alot of video retailers weren't as strict about renting out 18 and 15 rated movies to children as long as you said "My dad/mum/big brother/sister sent me."
Of course I probably grew up distorted from it all but I also saw some great movies.

Voted for fantasy, you just can't beat a film on total escapism from reality.

I voted for fantasy I am still a child (or am I? I'm 15...:P)and what contributed the most to my childhood was fantasy-movies. They really got my imagination going. In the world of fantasy anything can happen, even your wildest dream
