Mine would probably be between 1930 and 1960. I could watch old movies all day. There's just something about the actors/actresses from those era's. Probably the innocence of film making, if you see what I mean. It's not the same today.
I agree - films made in the 40's and 50's explored new heights, esp. Hitchcock. The way he created tension, with no special effects was pure genius. James Stewart is my fave actor of all time (Gary Oldman very close 2nd, who incidentally payed tribute to JS saying he inspired him) and i just love that on-screen bond of Hitchcock/Stewart... Rear Window and Vertigo - absolutely untouchable! They better not re-make them or else!!!

I'm sure they remade rear window with christopher reeve while he was in his wheelchair. They didn't do a bad job but it should never have been touched.

Definately agree with the 70's. The Godfather has to be the greatest film ever made.
'30's and early 40's. I love the glamour of early Hollywood, when stars really understood glamour and beauty. I love those von Sternberg/Dietrich films, and the screwball comedies. One of my favorite romantic films is "Wuthering Heights." I could go on and on......
Probably the 1980s. Some of my favourite films were made during that decade, including: Back to the Future, The Naked Gun and Airplane.
Wow, seems like many people enjoy films from waaaay back. I, personally, have not watched many classic black & white films. I might try watching some somdeday.. if I can get the time to. I just need to pick the right film to start with first.
The 90's definately. I mean it was THE year for films, Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, Pulp Fiction, Pretty Woman, Schindler's List, the Matrix, Se7en, Fight Club and the best film ever, Goodfellas!
THE decade for films has to be the 80's. Let's just take a look! (In no particular order): The Goonies, The Terminator, Ghostbusters, Aliens, Predator, Dragnet, Back to the future, Return of the Jedi (personally my fav star wars film) - to name a few! Basically alot of films I grew up with so that's why they mean alot to me.
I agree, the 80's all the way, not to mention the breakfast club, short circuit, pretty in pink...there are more but I just can't remember them. But a rockin decade.
Definately the 70's for me. So many classics like...
Taxi Driver, The Deer Hunter, New York New York, 1900, Mean Streets, Apocalypse Now, The Godfather & Part II, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, The Sting, Dirty Harry, Enter The Dragon, Chinatown, The Vanishing Point, The Last Detail, The Missouri Breaks, A Clockwork Orange, Star Wars, Jaws... etc

It changes for me. Recently I have been stuck in the 80's somewhat revisiting the movies of that era, now I'm going back to the 90's. Every decade had something to offer, although the jury is out somewhat on the noughties.
