The AX GTi was only 5 tenths down on the Renault 5 Turbo 0-60 and would go on to the same top speed. It would out handle the R5 GTT. I'd have thought this, and the marginally slower AX GT would have counted as a real old school Hot Hatch?

..italian cars in general are mechanically reliable and fun...not neccesarrily well made, not the best build quality..but oily bits..excellent...why so many pandas, unos etc....are still nipping about...i just missed a mint ren 5 gt turbo this wkend....one owner, always garaged, 112k, cherished car, turbo in need of attention..900quid or nearest...missed it cos i was awy looking at a landy 110 county diesel....aaargh!!....ended up not buying it and missing out on wee 5..someone bought it at 9.30 in the morning...not a happy bunny....
