Someone new has moved in across the road from us. Wow, they have no taste in cars. They have a nice taste in house, but not cars. THe man of the house , Steven, has a Kia Magentis and his wife, Sara, a '52 Hyundai Accent. Why they have so sh*t cars I shall never know. I of course own a korean car but atleast it's a better one. THe house cost about £450,000. THe total amount the cars will equal would be about £oh, you can work it out without a calculator. Talk about mess up the neighbourhood!!!!

Maybe they don't see cars the same way we do.

They obviously just see them as a mode of transport & just need somethin cheap & reliable.

Perhaps - unlike many on here - buys a car on the basis of:-
1- what it needs to do
2- what they can afford
3- value for money
Perhaps they very astutely buy products rather than badges. Not rocket science really.

They are probably under the impression that all cars are the same to drive and therefore go for the cheapest.

Perhaps they look on the cars as a "tool" and are not bothered how they handle or perform as long as they get them from a to b?

So why do you have a problem with the type of cars your neighbours own?
There is more to people than the cars that they drive.
Why not make an attempt to be a really good neighbour and get to know the people?
Or is getting to know them really so difficult..................it shouldn't be, you own a house in the same street and a Korean car Wink

Remember that you can live in your car................but you cannot race your house!!

Well, actually, my wife and I have invited them over for a light dinner this evening, so we can get to know them better and so their children can get to know our children better as well. I suppose talking about korean cars will make good conversation. <Well apart from the fact that my wife has a better car than Sara>
We'll see...

I hope that your new neighbours can see through you.

Forget the cars and ask them if they're into wife swapping.

That always livens things up.

Well I was bought up in Chipping Norton, and I am an only child so that could have made me partly a snob and I'm not anyway. I like things nice and even if they do come at a price. My neighbours will grow to like me because I'll be a good neighbour and I'm not trying to be better than them because I've just found out that he is also an architect and probaly on the same wage as me.
So to me we are equal... maybe just a bit better.

Its about priorities really. I quite admire your neighbours as they perhaps are more house people than they are car people. Property will make money in the long term but cars will always lose money both short and long term. They both wan't cars that work and with decent dealer service. The house accross the road from me has a mark 1 and a mark 2 Hyundai Accent on their drive.

I live on a council estate and sometimes you see very nice cars outside the houses and flats that look council owned, and older cars outside the private homes. A council tenant in my block has a 55 reg Ford Fusion (on motability I think) whereas I, a private resident, has a T-reg.

Me, I would love an Alfa Romeo 156 but I worked out that I spend less than 1% of my time in my car. The emphasis of my spending is on my flat.

Hyundais and Kias and other budget brand cars do not mess up neighbourhoods. Anti-social behaviour does! The latter will affect the value of your property and not the car on your neighbours' driveways...unless its been on bricks for months!

Well I do get paid quite well you know... I won't say how much, it's a shame my wife doe'snt work! Steven also gets paid a bit as well, so I found out today. The dinner went well and he is actually richer than I thought and yes he is a house person more than a car. Plus he also has 5 children, 2 have left home!!

I can't believe you are saying one Korean car is better than another. It's a bit like buying a 42 inch plasma LG TV as opposed to a 24 inch LCD, ther're both made by Goldstar.

Perhaps they have stretched themselves to put money into bricks and mortar and the Kia/Hyundai is the most cost effective way of motoring.

I mean you can't be a snob if you drive the same car as yourself can you? The couple across the road's A4 is only a 1.8 and not even a Sport, and do I complain?

Er, um, don't quite know how to put this. My wife and I have been invited over for dinner tonight by a bloke who I've always considered a bit of a knob. And he looks decidedly pervy.
Can't quite make him out.
Should I take red wine or stockings?

Well we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.
