Stuck this in my car today, and it doesn't half shift with it in! Tried the Tesco 99 - absolute rubbish, car drove like a bag of nails and was the slowest it's ever been.

BP Ultimate.. so-so, felt slightly more responsive but nothing special.

Excellium - wouldn't tell the difference from '95.

Optimax was very good, but this V-Power is definatley a little step up from that. Can really feel the difference even on my normally aspirated 1.6.

Nox - I didn't think the Citroen 1.6 had sufficient compression ratio to make use of the higher octane rating.

All of my cars have gone better on the Shell stuff, both carb and injection. The 1.6 twin cam 16v certainly feels the most reponsive to this stuff - believe me, I would not pay another 6p a litre for something I didn't feel made any difference. I've tried the others, and they made no difference. This stuff does.

Don't forget GRIP, it's not just the octane rating that effects how the car goes, it's the other chemicals and detergents that are also in the mix which adds to the effeciant running.

Must admit I prefer Shell's diesel as well - just seems smoother somehow - can't say I've ever given them a proper test, just noticed the difference after filling up with other fuel. Fortunately its cheaper than the other stuff too at the moment!

Do you think it would make any difference to my 3 cylinder 1.0 2006 Yaris? I am really regretting buying this car now, should have got the 1.4D4D!

^No.

Amazes me Toyota and Vauxhall are still shoving the same 1 litre 3 cylinders into their hatchbacks which are more heavy and bloated everytime they're revised. Aygo/C1/107, yes. Yaris, no.

No, it won't make a difference. The higher octane won't have any effect, nor will the detergants due to it being a new engine. Smile

The S60 T5's will come in to your range in a couple of years G. 250/260bhp and easily remapped to 300bhp (the S60 R will go to 330bhp!).

Who needs the S80 R V8 eh?
