I wouldn't buy a 500, only a used Abarth when they are 2 years old.

Seriously folks, when im driving along, im never wanting for power only better handling/brakes. Im perplexed by the never ending lust for power. Mid range is useful for OTing but thats it. Power doesnt make you drive at a faster speed, just view of road, brake and handling competence.
I agree 500D will be great, 80mpg, good mid range, 250,000 km engine life. Good VofR, B&H C.

A "designer" one like the clubman or 206 or a proper one like the Fabia or Clio I wonder...

My mate has a New shape corsa 1.3cdti (same engine has Fiat) and that is very fast! It easily has most "rep mobiles" off and any other car its size (well not any).I think it is a bit noisy though and it does feel strange putting it into 6th gear!
