So, where ya' all from then?

Choices:

Very much English, well Northumbrian (in the ancient sense, not the modern county boundaries)- but I do have family in the Borders and visit Cumbria and Scotland regularly for the walking and roads.

Sadly, despite being 1/2 Scottish, I'm forced to spend most of my time in England.

I was unfortunate enough to be born in England too. Given the choice, I would have been born in the Highlands, the most wonderful place on Earth!

After my last visit to Scotland, I came back with a fistful of Bank Of Scotland five pound notes. The reaction I usually get from English shop assistants is predictable enough. However, the M&S girl surpassed herself yesterday by asking her supervisor if there was an exchange rate in operation!!! ROFL!!!

Youre all Jocks! Smile

I went to Northern Ireland recently, then drove a client to Southampton the next day. Whilst waiting for the client, I thought I would have my hair cut. I paid with an Ulster Bank £10 note. The hairdresser said "sorry we dont take this Sterling money"... I said I think you do, & she said "Tina, do we take Sterling Money".. unbelievable

Im not Scottish - but you all are!

Are we all Scottish? Only if being Scottish is like being Irish, more a state of mind than an actual geographic origin. Big Grin

In addtion to being Irish, apparently I'm descended from Spanish Pirates too. No idea if it's true, I just use it as an excuse to say "AAAAAARRRR" a lot and indulge in general anarchy...

Israel, Poland & South America are along way from Scotland.

With invention of macadam for roads and the pnuematic tyre and a thousand other ideas including television I am surprised that there isn't a Scottish car builder around-but someone is bound to correct me on this.Even the Welsh
managed the Gilbern. However after the introduction of whisky perhaps they thought better of it. And a pleasant Burns night to all.

Hilman Imp?

I had a Scotish car, or more accurately a Scotish manufactured Kit car.

It was an Austin Healey 100/4 replica produced by a company called Haldane (since bought by Pilgrim cars in Sussex).

There is one in a Scotish motoring museum somewhere. Cracking fun - tuned Pinto & 5 speed box, used it every day for 8 months!

The Imp?Only made in Scotland-not designed there. Well I had three of them for my troubles and if they had sorted the water pump problems out earlier it would have been a match for the mini. Even had an opening rear window. One of mine had a concrete block under the bonnet/boot to help handling. As with a lot of British cars it arrived on the market with too many stupid faults-see also Maxi.MGF Discovery etc etc
