The main one which takes up a lot of our time most of the year is canoeing. Not in a kayak, but in a 'proper' Indian open canoe (Mad River Adventure 14ft in Royalex) for those in the know.
We're very lucky here in that tidal rivers have free access for canoeists, whereas access to rivers inland is either non-existent or very restricted (and costly).
So we are able to choose from four or five tidal rivers within easy reach - making it a very cheap hobby! It's also a fantastic way of keeping in trim - try paddling for a few hours solid and see how your muscles ache.
It is amazing how close you can get to wildlife in a canoe - we have been within a few feet of herons, kingfishers, all kinds of migratory birds and even seals in the Beaulieu River.
I keep hearing voices that urge me to buy an electric motor attached to a small propellor (I feel the need, the need for speed!) and this can turn into a real experience apparently, with the bow coming up way out of the water - but the 'captain' has forbidden this so far - and I always do what she says
Oh - and 'serious' air shows with a good percentage of modern military jets (F15, F16, Tornado, Mirage, B1 etc). Not the ones with hundreds of helicopters and the Crunchy Flying Circus!
Mainly kayaking, playboating to be precise (which involves getting into a tiny kayak and performing stupid tricks ). I love listening to music, but am no good at playing it. Rock climbing and mountain biking too, having the Peak District on your doorstep is brilliant for this!

------------------------------------------------ If you get to the South Coast, you'll be more than welcome to accompany me - I think it will take our combined weight!
My main hobby is flying planes. learnt to fly in the RAF and have a full licence now im a civvy. Can fly at night and on instruments as well as during the day. Am a member of a flying club so have regular access to the required machinery. I also play Rugby regularly and eat out and drink out much more often than i should.
I don't really have many hobbies; I learnt to fly a glider a few years ago and have also dabbled in RC cars, boats and aircraft, I've also done a fair bit of shooting mainly with air rifles but occasionally clay pigeons and archery. Now I seem to spend far too much time working and here on the Internet. When I'm not doing any of those things I'm probably watching films, eating or going to the pub.
old cars..keeping them running, or messing with them....building cars, old slow motorcycles....or even new slow motorcycles....but no plastics please.....competing in Trials, or doing a bit of helping out...less involved interest in hill climbs, etc... a bit of railway modelling....real steam railways...most of the above shared with my son, 8, and some of the above shared with the missus...
then there's 'driving'....but less speedy stuff these days, too much enforcement done too easily....like to drive what many see as ackward or difficult motors...
my missus preferred the firing to the driving.....seems like, in her view, the fireman has more involvement than the driver...also her co-student)?) on the course, a fella, was about as much use as a chocolate teapot at shovelling coal onto the right spot....plus he was wimpish at getting underneath the engine for oiling-up!....apparently the instructor was a trifle scathing in his opinions of the guy afterwards....the missus was offered a job if she felt like volunteering...( at 'time' commitment she doesn't really have!) She was also all over 'City of Truro' up in Scotland last summer......I tend to stand back a bit....she isn't what one might call an 'enthusiast' in the anorak sense....she just loves the steam thing, from the viewpoint of someone working them. She doesn't stand back tho'....any trip to a steam railway elicits a critique on the driver or firman...she's often been known to elan in the cab and shout ''black smoke doesn't make steam!!!''

--------------------------------------- Have you ever tried a canoe Queebs?
Yeah, I've tried one a few times at my local canoe club. I suppose they're pretty good for long distances (but then so are most sensible kayaks) and ambling about in.
Computers and technology, cooking and food, eating out, films, motor sport and of course cars and track days.
Dan, fair enough if you're not in to car meets, but there's no need to constantly make snide comments. The car club scene is absolutley massive, covering every thing from a Robin Reliant to the Ferrari register. I suppose all of those people are closet homosexuals with no lives, too?

The guys who come along in their Ferraris, Porsches, (the Zonda of course), etc, could all learn from TSF, Noxide!
