UK roads don't work with fun,

depends how one quantifies 'fun?'

finding back roads, keeping an eye out for speed limits..and using a car which, whilst not having enormous power (or indeed, any) but gives a good drive....just as much fun can be had driving a car that gives the driver good feedback, snappy acceleration
yet not oversilly with speed.

plus puts one into a different driving environment form usual?

for example, open top/no roof at all?
open wheels (with mudguards, silly!)?
3 wheels instead of 4?

barely legal exhaust note?

perhaps...a crash gearbox. to practice double de-clutching?

what about an external gearlever, like the old vintage sportscars?

I'd hqve a Triking...3 wheels, Moto-Guzzi power, guzzi gearbox for real sequential changes....but not a cattinells chance at 5K...more like 20k's now!

..i'm afraid i cant stand these fake ferraris and the like...some of em have amazing engineering etc...so why not clad em in something of your own taste, something different...too many clones in motoring from the big manufacturers never mind the kit fraternity....oh and qj..i love the triking...almost a morgan clone..bloody hypocrite aint i??...always fancied a lomax too, but fear i would look totally ridiculous in one.....best get one then eh?....

Mid 80s BMW 5 series are tail happy too - i used to read about this all the time in the motoring press, and see photos of them in Performance Car being slid around corners sideways...

I didnt learn my lesson and had a "brown-trouser" moment in my 1987 528i Auto when i was 18... it went sideways BIG TIME and instilled into my mind that you cant always assume the car will do exactly as you think its going to!

yep! biggbn!

I don't go for Lomaxes...something a bit too 'window-boxy' about them...and the preformance is strictly 2cv...

the Triking follows a general theme, ie, mechanical layout, started by many makers from WW1 onwards..Morgan was perhaps the best known....but the Triking is as different to the m\rgan as chalk 'n cheese....doesn't have a soldered propshaft for starters.....or chain drive.

and the fella that designed the Triking (Terry Divey) is/was ex-Lotus...

JZR is another option, although their earlier cars were a bit on the tite side for the likes of you and me.....but they made an interesting car using a Honda Pan-euro engine/box.....

but best for my size is the BRA-vee twin trike
