I keep hoping that BMW will bring the 123D coupe over to the USA, I know they are slowly introducing more diesels (and so are most of the other manufacturers) so am keeping my fingers crossed.

I imagine it would make an ideal commuter car, but also a great back road blast as well.

It's a fine car, with a great, great engine.

As an alternative diesel HH how about the new Imprezza with the rumoured 200bhp? With 4wd and reasonably low weight it should be a good b-road competitor to the 123d hatch or coupe.

I think it has 180 bhp?

Actually I would be tempted to wait for the 3 series to get the 123d engine actually.

I realise it's 1.0 l bigger and longer and wider and only 105 kg heavier. Seems to me the 123d should be at least 250 kg less. Talk of lardy ass.

Saw one of these today.

Man they look good.

They are cleaning up in every road test comparison.

The one I saw was silver and it really looks good on it - current BMW coupés are at their peak IMO, the 1, 3 and 6 Series coupés all looks great, and the Z4 coupé, saw one of those yesterday too. I never liked the hatch version of the 1 Series, the cabrio looks weird, but the coupé is spot on.

What price are you waiting for them to fall to??

About £16K.

You may have a long wait before they drop that low - they are still 24k and upwards on the main dealer network.

However the wait will be worth it from what I hear.

Unless you really, really need the space why would you buy a 3 series when you could get a car as good as the 123d for the same money?

I hope that you find one soon, however, and give us a report.

'XNTRIK' will wait until they are 25 years old!

Yeah they're still 23K on AutoTrader.

If I came into some money and I was after a small car I think a 135i coupé would be my choice.
