I've just got a chocolate labrador puppy.

As I live on my own the company will be nice, but I travel in my job and want to take him with me.

As he is still young is there some kind of animal baby seat that he can use as I want him to be safe and not confined into a box.

I want him to get used to travelling from a young age and eventually hope when he is adult he will be able to sit upright in the front seat and even do his own seat belt up.

Advice appreciated. THANKS

I though of that the car has airconditioning and I'll be taking his bowl plus some big bottles of fresh water and even some food too.

Are there such things as travel sickness tablets for dogs like you give to children? In case he isn't too used to travel initially?

Taking the dog everywhere will be a lot of trouble.

You'll need a doggy litter tray.

mate...make sure the dog has`nt got the runs..lol!! lol!! it`ll take weeks to get rid of the smell...lol!! lol!!...oh..and get a muzzle for it in case he tries to bit you while ur drivin..lol! lol!!

Thanks guys for all your replies.

I saw the bin men yesterday and got half a dozen bin liners.

I've now covered HIS seat with the bin liners and secured them with gaffer tape. that should help with any wee or poo.

I've also got a sponge and some washing up liquid in case of accidents. I've also got an old thermos of warm water too.

I'm off to Pets Store, the large chain on the industrial park and see what they have.

You should get to the RSPCA and see the pictures of cruielty or any local vet will advise you of the wrongs of human kind.

You can get a harness from almost any pet shop, obviously you'll need to buy new ones as he grows but my border collies only got through 3 from being tiny pups to almost full grown now. You'll also probably need a clip that attaches the harness to the (fastened) seat belt, they're only a quid or so.

We have a Zafira, drop the rear seats and have a plastic backed cover for the rear, fasten the seatbelts and clip the dogs to them, no bother. We've also got a dog guard for the rear but haven't needed to use that since they just lay down and sleep most of the time.

Sounds nice to have a companion on your road trips. beats radio 2s endless traffic reports on places you never go. do we really need to be told every 30 minutes that it is slow on the hangar lane gyratory. Its always slow there!!! Non info

The radio in my car is busted anyway.

The little fellow is a bit off colour today so we are not off out anywhere except perhaps the vets.

dogs need fresh meeat once per week, otherwise they get cancer from all those preservatives in DF.
