I just ordered a new Citroen Berlingo Multispace. We have had the car for 8 months and the new one will be arriving in Feb 06. I opted for a Poseidon Blue (electric blue) 1.6 HDi and the cost of changing after a year is a princely £138.20 (I can hear other car dealers choking).

With a multitude of cubbies both in overhead lockers and even under the footmats it is super family friendly and I especially like the Modubox which is a little 18 litre folding shopping trolley that resides in the boot. I have the 1.6 HDi and mileage has been excellent.

The Berlingo managed a trip to Croatia and Italy this summer with no problems at all and mileage was great.

The one thing the Berlingo Multispace is not and that is a good drive. It is fine for the daily school run 9 miles away where my wife teaches but for frequent motor journeys I preferred our old Fiat Multipla.

I still would be driving a Fiat if it was not for the personality challenged dealers and salesmen but I have to say that I am very happy with the Berlingo Multispace.

It's a car with a function. It does it well from the few owners I know.

aaahhh berlingo...has a certain 'ring' to its name, eh?

I'd like one...can't afford one yet....since it's such an UNPOPULAR form of transport...how come Citroen find it a best seller?

and other, lesser manufacturers have fallen over themselves to bring out 'competitors?'

it's todays equivalent of the Renault 4.....with balls!

so what if it drives like a van?

millions of van drivers don't go bleating because their vans drive like lorries?

anyway, driving like a van has to be better than driving like my Volvo?

Not sure what that proves - all it is is a list of cars that JC likes - if anyone disagrees with him he just over-rides them!

waste of space!

given the company the Berlingo is in, perhaps the cool wall is more like the 'poisoned chalice?'

QJ it is in pretty good company and as far as I know the Berlingo persistently tops sales in its class and the sales are very good and have been increasing.

QJ,

I think the list is pretty good. Saab-not a bad car, Subarus-interesting and the Renault's are stylish but I am not a fan. And Clarkson is not responsible for the whole list. Both the Hamster and May are very keen on many of these cars and especially the Berlingo Big Grin .
