Following a few comments on another thread, we have an established list of regular posters on here that are clearly fanboys of certain makes and models of cars.

So, to help newbies on here out, please list the makes and models that you are a fanboy of (and those makes and models that you hate!). Others: feel free to help those that are economical with the truth! Wink

Anyway, i'll start the ball rolling:

I am a fanboy of Porsche, Mercedes and BMW. I *generally* hate Japanese and French cars.

Next... Big Grin Mwahahahahaha...bring it on! Wink

Love anything interesting where the styling came first before the commercial element, and has to have a multicylinder engine & lots of power.

Dislike small hatchbacks (with exception of Golf & Focus).

If I posted my "best car ever owned", then sadly this thread would just go the same way as every other. I'd get called an uneducated person who doesn't care or know anything about cars. So I'll just pass on this one. (shakes head)

Big fan of veedubs and porkers although i've only driven a couple of the former and none of the latter. Also have a soft spot for scoobies of all shapes and sizes.

*Awaits abuse from anti-jap, scoobies are for neds contingent*

Really i like anything with a bit of character, good or bad, at least that way there's something to say about it. And yes that DOES include japanese cars. One of the cars i've hated most in recent years is the new Focus cos it's just so unremarkable, there's nothing interesting to say about it.

I'm a big fan of unpretenious, run of the mill cars like Mondeos, Vectras etc.

You get a great car for little cash that will run and run.
Stuff the image, enjoy the car - that's what I say!

I did like my old Volvo though, I suppose if I was rich enough I'd be a fan of BMWs and Mercs etc, just not in my league! Smile

I like cars with character, the underdog, a little bit different or forgotton about.

I hate badge engineering and resting on laurals because of one good generation of models in the 80's. Hence why I dislike BMW, Volkswagen, and the like.

I do own a Citroen but I don't like them or French cars generally - the old Renault turbos, and AX GT/GTi apart.

I do not like Diesel but I will live and let live on that one.. personally I'd never have one, but different people want different things from their cars.

I tend to dislike German cars due to the general arrogance shown by the drivers of them, and the automatic presumption that anything German with surpass anything else - which isn't true.

Personally I like Japaense cars for their high build quality, reliablity, performance and willingness to be different. People say Japanese cars are boring.. well maybe the Charisma was, but what about the Evo, Impreza, 200sx, Supra, Skyline, Integra... even the Nissan Cherry Turbo was a blast!

I like old Saabs too, character, performance, luxury and my favorite.. turbos!

I'm sorry but whoever has posted this pretending to be Palmira should be ashamed of themselves.

No mention of the Japanese or the Germans - can't really be you can it Palmy?

As for myself, not really fussed.

Don't like 'status symbol' cars (bought for the badge on the front rather than what its like e.g. BMW 1 series) or fashionable ones (new MINI, Audi TT) but just about anything else has its merits.

Probably.

I am a big fan of cars that do not 'shout about' their abilities, generally anything with huge spoilers & over-styled is not for me.

On Italian cars: while I have a dislike for [new] fiat & Alfa badged cars I do like Lancia, Maserati, Lamborghini & some Ferrari's.
There's something about 5 series I really like although any other bmw is on my dislike list!
Many may get the impression that I’m fan of everything VW --- but that's not exactly true; I do like Audi [hardtops except TT] , Skoda, seat's [except alhambra & new toledo] & as far as vw's go its just gti/r32 golfs, new jetta, passat, touareg & phaeton --- call me selective

OK this will be quicker as a LIST: all subject to change & not exhaustive

Some of new ones I like:

Audi A4/ A6/ A8

as my missus is finding out...she loves the cheapo ebay 900 we got, even has grown to appreciate the auto box.

however, word of warning...if you ever buy a car that has previously had dogs or cats i it...get it fumigated (rentokill???)

because..flea eggs can lie dormant for several months...especially in the cold of winter...and the missus has got in the habit of popping out from work at lunchtime, and parking up to eat her sarnies...and grab a quick fag....with the heater on full blast!

she went down with fleabites en masse....so the Nuvan Staykill got resurrected...

be warned....check tax, MoT, HPi, and Rentokill!
