Once again the drivers of cars are joyous in the use of fog lights. Misty morning around 6am, not too bad, could see quite a way but it appears that its the time to try to wear out the bulbs again. I think the US star wars project has a need to target practice and I know where they can start...... nice day otherwise.

Hello Tomark,
Youre right there chap...

Hopefully with the newer cars having lights which are either automatic or have a facility whereby if you switch them off it switches the foglights off too so that they dont come on next time the lights are on, it will start to eliminate this behaviour.

I see it alot less now that the cars are designed like that than i did years ago whereby people switched the foglights on, then forgot theyd done it & they came on every time they put the lights on thereafter! Very annoying!

I think people put their fogs on for any weather conditions these days; either that or they all have cataracts.

Palmira, I fear its the "button does sommit but I know not what?" brigade. No matter what the technology involved. Along with turn it on and forgot about it.

Ahh, the foglight brigade! Roll Eyes

Sadly, they are so immersed in their ignorance (just like the middle lane hoggers on the motorways) that they don't know how stupid they are!!!!

It is indeed most irritating to look into your rear view mirror and be blined by a wall of pointless light.

Every modern car I have owned has had a warning light in the dashboard to tell me the fogs are on.....do these drivers never look?

If they are not noticing warning lights, then it may be fair to say they are driving without due care and attention..give 'em 3 points and a £60 fine!

Um, I may be alone on this then. I use front foglights occasionally at night without fog. I use them on an unlit, QUIET motorway (obviously, not very often) or other such rural road to give me a better view of the side of the road. Examples will be on the M50 and Heads of the Valleys Road. If there are other vehicles about, I will switch them off. I did forget once and had a Police Range Rover pull in front of me with a sign saying 'Switch Off Fog Lights' - which was fair enough. Only thing is, a dog/fox/hare/cat thing ran across the motorway into the Range Rover and I was concentrating so hard on reading the message and feeling embarrassed, that I ran over the poor creature too. How weird is that.

I NEVER put on front or rear fogs in traffic. Nor in built-up areas unless there is utterly miasmic fog and no-one to be dazzled. Likewise, I don't sit on the brakes at lights with someone behind me having their retinas cauterized.

On the other side of this argument are the clowns who don't switch on any lights at all until it is pitch black - usually driving dark cars.

Well we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

I sometimes in the evening drive around with my front spot lights on, but make sure my headlights are not blinding anyone! I never have my rear fog lights on though i HATE that!

Also main beam idiots annoy me, or what about the tossers who drive without their lights on... how can they see the speedo!

Actually, this is something that causes me considerable concern - scenario: you're driving along the road at night being very nice, private hire/taxi parks on wrong side of road with headlights on, drunken slappers/t0ssers fall from passenger side door onto street. You cannot see them. Water melon squashing incident.

The same applies to those eejits with offspring who park the same way to load their spawn into their car. It don't matter how many NCAP stars the car has, the kids are always zero-rated.

And then there's the main beam on the motorway despite the fact there is traffic coming the other way. Oh, for a laser.

Oh dear, I'm going to have to sit down and chill now.
