....hardly likely these days though, is it? Probably racing to the scene of someone crossing the road without a permit......so they can bolster the DNA-theft stats before SO19 arrive and shoot the poor s*d.

Boig, do i detect that you are less than convinced of the value to society of the work done by our Brave Bobbies? Don't blame the Police for reflecting the stanglehold that the liberal elite seem to have on the Political Establishment. We have only ourselves to blame. To paraphrase a famous quote from Edmund Burke: "The only thing necessary for the triumph of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS is for good men to do nothing."

Okay, this is well off topic now (my fault entirely, 'pologies to anyone expecting a post on 5 series estate cars) but just to be clear mad-g, I was commenting more on the value of a lot of the laws they are being empowered and required to enforce. Many of which I would say are the polar opposite of anything that might be described as liberal.

The police these days are basically a bunch of tax collectors... I doubt they want to perform that role in society but it's the way the labour government is pushing them. As for area cars round my way they generally use V70's and the odd Impreza WRX STI. I expect the rozzers are as annoyed about the new impreza being a rubbish hatch as the rest of us... there's no room for stuff in the back of them anymore.
They are deemed pathetic... the Impreza used to look good when it was a proper saloon; now it looks like a Kia Rio and nobody has ever said "ohh the Kia Rio that's a useful car, we need more of those" It's not exactly going to scare the the crims much is it?
Yeah you see, hot hatch is what a 19 year old drives. It should be a super saloon like the previous Impreza. Having said that I went along to a Mitsubishi garage yesterday where they had an Evo IX and X parked next to eachother and it was plain to see that they too have taken an automotive step backwards, although not a leap in the same way as subaru.
I saw the new WRX STi earlier in the week. First time I've seen one of the new ones in the flesh.......er, I rather liked it. Certainly can't understand the outpouring of horror over the styling. Bit bland, a little dated maybe but by no means horrible .... and when you have the "bug-eye" to compare it to .... no contest.
...and the Evo X is an awesome-looking car.

The old Scooby was old hat. Prices had fallen, dramatically, as had worldwide demand. There isn't too much wrong with the new car. The wheel in each corner approach is a good thing.

Agreed, the new Evo X only needs more power and the company to refine the gearboxes offered. Then they'll be there.

Models 1 to 9, too, were always accused of being too plasticky. But classy interiors and gorgeous exterior lines never was the point of an Evo.

new one lost a straight comparison test on its 'home' ground, the twisting tarmac of wales, in car mag a few months ago....what leviathan humbled the new scoob....the civic type r..!!!...
