I just dug out 2 American bike magazine tests, of road bikes from 10 years ago and 20 years ago.
Quarter-miles in 9.87 and 10.89 respctively.
0-60 in 2.7 and 2.9.
Street bikes have always been quicker than street cars on acceleration. But now they have the 200 mph top speed to ensure their advantage stays, other than if you are on salt flats or a 3-mile straight road.
Even then, only cars costing ridiculous amounts of money can ever get near a bike.

Talk about the sort of money the likes of us can spend and cars are history, performance-wise.

for the money as top speed doesnt matter on the road an early evo is the best performance you can get. 300 bhp and about 8k pounds gets you 0-60 in under 5 seconds. but even cheap small bikes do that.

Every cafe in Wales, The Peaks, the dales etc sees hundreds of bikers roll up every weekend. Lousy weather recently has limited the fun a bit. But loads of us bikers out there!
