I just hope the 330 bhp and 360 bhp models appear at some stage, on the 6-speeder!
For now, only the manual 5-speeder will get the uprated models.

It's safe to say that the Impreza has gone soft; and is now set to take on hot Astras and Golfs.

It will be the fastest and best handling hot hatch in the world though!
STi version has 295 bhp.

It's not exactly going to bother a Skyline R34 or Evo VI though is it. Subaru should still be aiming for the top instead of downgrading into the hot hatch market.

No but the Scooby is £25K new, the Skyline wouldn't be!

To be honest I think both the new Evo and Impreza have been ruined style wise, but as the Evo is still a saloon it becomes my favourite.

Yes it would, because it has more than 300bhp from the factory, and also is a far superior handling machine - many say the Evo 6 was the best handling model ever made, especially the Makkinen version.

Evo 6 had a claimed 276 bhp std, probably around 300 bhp in truth.
The Subaru has a far more developed 4wd system than the old Evo 6 had, has higher torque at all rpm levels and weight is very similar.
There would be nothing in it virtually.

My Evo 340 used to leave a std Evo 6 behind every time.

To me, until the Evo X proves itself, the Evo lX 360 is the finest Evo there has been.

Put it this way Ian. Evo 6 around a track, vs a new Impreza STI.

I'd bet real money on the Evo being consistently quicker.

Maybe, but i predict confidently that the new Scooby will get underrated by many people, because of the way it looks.
It seems, that whilst it is underwhelming on the eye, the Japanese technicians have given it a top-notch 4wd system and an amazingly good AYC.
The ST1, with it's 295 bhp and grunty 2457cc will be a really quick car.

The Evo 6 was stiffer and more taught than any other Evo. The SAYC system was essentially the same as its successors. Fifth gear ran a test.. Evo 6 vs Evo 8 FQ300.

The 6 was comfortably quicker.

The Evo 6 was a quick car, i guess i always think back to my Evo 340, which actually had 375 bhp, courtesy of the guys at Silverstone, WRC.
I have criticised the new Scooby myself, but it's going to give the Evo X some headaches.

give the evo ten a chance boys. its not even out yet. yeah the evo 360 9 i had was faster and better than any evo 6.

Of course it was with over four hundred brake horse power, Chaz!

408 bhp iirc. That Evo was very rapid and would have seen off my CSL.

The new Lancer EVO is a very pretty car indeed as japanese have very successfully copied Volvo for the front and Alfa Romeo for the rear...I think it's easy to see.If I had a parking problem or lived in a cite centre I would rather go for the Subaru,if not,I 'd go for the Lancer...

It seems like the 6-speed X will have to wait a while before the tuners get it above 330 bhp or so.

It always was ahead, it's just taken this long for Subaru to accept defeat. The new Evo 10 will be noticeably faster around a track, like for like, over the Subaru equivalent.

The new Impreza looks cheap, ugly and is nothing but a sell out having gone to the Hatchback shape, in my opinion.

Yep it looks like Subaru have given up trying to beat Mitsubishi, and have set their sights on Vauxhall instead!

That's about it!

evo every time theres no discussion even on that. subaru now takes on the r32 and focus st.

At which it will excel.
