Five still suffers from the fact that it is not available as widely as BBC2 & in some places, it's signal strength is poor.

Not to mention their poor programmes, those who do not receive C5 are not missing out.

Is this true? In this day and age, 5 are not available in some places? Thats outrageous. I thought it was only cellular phone service which was dark-ages technology and keeps cutting off all the time... Surely a television company should be able to offer its audience a signal in the year 2006?

Disgusting service, i am really surprised to hear this. Where is there no signal for 5?

Where I live for a start, Palmy, we are "served" (if thats the right word!) by the Bromsgrove Ariel and we don't get it! They are due to update it, but we don't know when!! Birmingham, 15 miles down the road, does have it!

Got Cable ourselves, though!

I am still flabbergasted that in this day & age, certain areas dont receive mainstream TV channels. Thats appalling.

Cable or Satellite is the way to go i agree b308 - but why on earth should you have to pay extra to have that just because the commercial channels cannot provide a good enough signal.

It will no doubt all improve in 2008 when Analog tv is switched off.

I will have to buy two Digital TV cards for the S-classes, because at the moment they have analog TV but Mercedes-Benz have an upgrade you can buy to plug in under the bonnet to receive digital wide screen TV on the same built-in COMAND screen.

BBC is really the only decent TV channel - and because of the "unique way in which the BBC is funded" they dont run endless reality shows and nonsense phone-ins with no intellectual content.

I really am going to get C4's back up today arent i? Its not intentional - just a general view i have. C4 do some good things but i am very dismayed at their latest stance re: Christmas.

And do remember, as i said in the other Post, im an immigrant myself and im Jewish. But this is England - Do you think that lady who is doing the "alternative" speech's country of origin would let a Jew or Christian stand up on national TV on one of their religious days, in a dog collar or skull cap and preach how great it is to be a Jew or Christian?

Not a chance.

And before you give me the sandal-wearing, Volvo-driving, muesli-eating media-studies student response that its this tolerance and diversity which makes Britain special, save it.

It is this which makes British peoples blood boil and leave the country, and what makes our society a dangerous and uncertain place.

I really like this forum and i like C4, but please in times like these, do NOT patronise us.

I will be interested to see if this gets deleted. If it does, then it shows that I am not allowed my freedom of speech or view, but the lady giving the alternative speech is allowed her contraversial view on national TV at Christmas time.

I tolerate your view Palmy.
I tolerate the legions of hard-working Poles who have immigrated legally and have set themselves up to do the hard, physical work that British laborers don't seem to want to do. (How many times have I rung for a plumber or a builder and got the usual "I can't fit you in for at least a month"?)
I tolerate the middle-eastern immigrants who will be killed if they return to their own country because their people are less tolerant than ours.
I will not tolerate the white supremacists, the black racists and the gangs of ethnic-minority youths walking around the streets of my home town looking for a fight. They hide their violence behind a cloak of racism. I am a member of an ethnic majority yet I cannot look at these Pakistanis or Afghans in the face without seeing hatred and racial intolerance.
Christianity is not as tolerant as many people think (remember the Crusades) and it is the largest religion in the world. It's only a matter of time before the tolerance wears out.
