So, what spec are we likely to see on the new one Oli?

It's based on an AX Forte 1.1i shell. These shells had the GT/GTi chassis, as opposed to the lower model chassis, and the GT/GTi bodykit and styling. The benefit of the Forte is that:

1) It's not a rare model like the GT/GTi, so it won't matter in the grand scheme of things if I stack it again

2) No under-carpet sound deadening as standard. Big Grin

Spec will be:

2000 Saxo VTS 1.6 16v DOCH engine
106 GTi suspension and brakes
Illuminated Plasma Dials
Escosse Racing forced cold air system
Decat

and the new toys..

Miltek/Raceland 4-2-1 performance stainless steel manifold
Newman road/race cams

I should see around 160bhp at the flywheel with that, give or take a few ponies. The figures in theory, traction permitting, should see it sprint to the usual ball park times quicker than an Astra VXR.

5.7 seconds 0-60, 13.9 1/4 time, 14 seconds to 100mph. Smile

Naturally I will be keeping the GB sticker and 1.1i badges on the car. Wink

i personally feel that we should take some of the weight off young nox' shoulders by destroying any old ax we happen to see....this will save him the bother and he's already done more than enough for the worthwhile cause of ridding the world of gimcrack citroens....haha

variety is the spice of life......my fleet is down to daihatsu move, 72 beetle and 84 granada 2.8i at the minute...but this can expand/contract at any time....and iv only ever owned one with over 300k on it....i ask ya, the unfairness of it all....i recomend that nox doesnt actually try to take off next time...back to the fututre was just a film......the de lorean never really flew....

i do like ax gt, just couldnt resist a dig.. ya know me....much preferred the visa gt and gti but they are like rocking horse sh*te nowdays.....and thats a bit below the belt bamford...a lot of my cars have been really clean older 'modern classics'...just cos a cars old dont mean its a heap..you of all people should know this as you have almost as eccentric and eclectic taste as me....i'l post up pics of the granada on t'other side tomorrow..its a one family owned minter, not a bag of bolts....nox has seen many pics of my cars and i think he will tell you not all of them are buckets....tho some indubitably have been...!!....my motto is buy the best you can afford for the least nmoney you can and resell for the most joe public will pay.....works for me...

Yeah ok, let ya off bggbn.
We do like many similar cars, i guess. (The 2CV4 went this week though, to make way for the Westfield Seight.)
You'd have liked my '87 Visa GTI, it was the 115ch version and was like new throughout.
Only the roof spoiler constantly falling off at high speed, despite new mountings, annoyed me with that car.
It was a 205 GTI with more practcality (5 doors).

always found the gt better balanced...1360cc douvrin engine, twin webers...mine was all white with red stripes and white steel wheels...visa challenger i think if memory serves....superb handling and quick quick for the engine size...another one id love to get my hands on was the peugeot 104 zs 2 door with the alloys and 1360cc engine..genuinely quick wee fun car.....

I think the 205 GT and XS had the same 1360 TU engine as the AX GT.

Thats absolutely right Oli..

PSA even use the very same TU engine today in the 207 and 307, and Citroen still use it too. Amazing to see that little engine has gone on so long. It is very reliable though.

Particularly remarkable when you bear in mind the small car sector is the most competitive and the other manufacturers are all going for hi tech... PSA stick to their evolutionary TU and have very few problems with it.

traction permiting noxide's AX should give a P1 a farly good run for it money.

Just because youve got a bigger engine, turbo and 4wd dosnt neserserly meen your cars quicker it comes down to othere things like BHP per ton

My cars got a bigger engine, 2 more cylinders, 1 extra turbo and 4wd but it dosnt meen its quicker trhan you P1, Yet.
