Does that mean he'll disappear from this forum and not darken its doorstep again?

Amusing that Palmy could be banned for his political rantings (which only offend a few) yet this idiot will never be banned because the moderators have no idea what he's saying!

Gosh, being a member of the forum seems a bit like having an ASBO where you have to be on good behaviour!!

The vital difference between this forum and an ASBO is that this forum is properly enforced.

Haha Alfisti! This is true!! Smile

We have an ordnance curfew in this Borough. Works a treat. No teenage morons hanging about causing trouble, because its illegal! Perfect.

Mind you, that sort cannot afford to live here anyway....

Must have been rough around your way previously Palmy as Ordnance refers to explosives, ammunition, and small arms! Wink

It does refer to that but here it means children under 18 are to abide by a curfew. Simple as that really....

Never been rough around here. It is befitting of a gentleman. Hence my choice of residence. Smile

From the Hutchinson Encyclopaedia:

"Remember that ordinance means a regulation or decree, whereas ordnance means military equipment or weapons. It is also used in Ordnance Survey maps, which were originally produced by the artillery department".

Now now, old bean.

I omitted the letter I.

English is not too bad for a foreigner.

Ordinance as in keeping Order.

Thank you Bamford...

I wont be going yet.. But i do intend to leave later on in life. I dont think retirement in the UK is a particularly appealing prospect!!

I have to say that i am absolutely loving retirement up in in the Peak District Andy, but as the bones age, i might just relocate in a few years time to the house in Provence.
Slight problem there being that although it has over an acre of land the house is just '2 down and 3 up'.

Fantastic. Ive got a client who has been driven in my 200,000 mile S-class today up to the Peak District - well, just outside it anyway - Chesterfield.

That car will arrive back with another 350 miles on its clock.

Nice journey though. I had friends in Sheffield & often used to go up, or call in if id been in the area.

For me London is home though. I cant really see myself living in the provinces.

Nice choice of holiday home in Provence though. Hey your name Bamford originates from the Peak District. There is a little town there called Bamford, in Thornhill District.

Nice problem to have re: space. You will have just enough space to live in comfortably, but will have plenty of outdoor space to build garages & keep a car collection there!

The name 'Bamford' was after Queenjane's battles with our infamous local circa 1-in-3 tortuous climb, ascended by the trials club Alastair (Queenjane) is a member of every year. 'Bamford Clough'.
Many don't make the trip up, it is bumpy, very steep in places and rutted.

We are actually nearer 'Calver', another village.

Provence home? I have a wooden triple garage already, but the rules are quite strict on what can be added to the original building (as far as living space is concerned.)

It is currently set up as 2 rented out accomodations, it is very poular with hill walkers, motorcyclists, sun worshippers and especially those who simply want utter peace and quiet.

WE let it 20 weeks per year.
