I saw a Fiat Croma today (not the most exciting of cars you may say), but it got me thinking. They've been out for a while now and it's the first one I've seen for months. In fact I've only seen two or three since they went on sale. They obviously never caught on here (UK), a little bit oddball or bland perhaps but they are actually pretty good cars. Anybody got any experience of them and are they still on sale here?

They were very modern, when they appeared and do make a great used buy, if you get a good one.

Vectra-based, but dont take that as a bad thing. Graced with Fiat's excellent JTD engines, especially the barn-storming 200bhp JTD, a highlight of the current Alfa range.

Fiat never promoted it, but then the concept of a big Fiat is alien to the modern world.

Could be tricky sourcing some spares if anyone owned one. But that 200bhp one.....

Well said SulphurMan. At least Fiat has Alfa Romeo to promote in the upper-medium segment, and of course, soon, Lancia.

I have seen quite a few Bravos around of recent months, and their latest deal is definitely head against the Hyundais of this world. It's a smart looking car too, perhaps how the Golf should have looked...Smile

Fiat's version to the Vauxhall Signum: a very strange choice of car from Fiat.

The Signum was a poor seller; proof if needs be that the world was not ready for an executive hatchback with a mass-market badge, so why did Fiat (a manufacturer with reliabilty & image problems, coupled with poor dealers) think they could sell such a car? Confused

All that aside, it's probably a great used buy, but it must be hard finding one as I personally have only ever seen ONE! Eek

Definitely.

Vauxhall offered some cracking engines in the Signum. Cool

I was talking about the new Croma, not the one that shared platforms with the Lancia Thema and Saab 9000.

I've been looking these up in the classifieds & they are stunning value.

A hell of a car for little money.

True. Nobody wanted them when they were new and they depreciate like a lead ballon.
