Why can Daihatsu never make a car that actually looks normal? They always have to make their cars look like a box! Am i the only one that thinks they would sell loads more cars if they looked normal? Or are Daihatsu a "quirky" brand for those who want something different?

It's the same with their vans. I was looking at getting a Daihatsu Extol as it is perfect for my business but it looks rediculous in real life. I suspect it could make small children cry and I'd get the feeling everyone would be laughing at me, (which they do anyway but for different reasons!)

My Dad had an 850cc Daihatsu HiJet van years ago, flat fronted thing with the engine under/behind the seats, unlike the weird (though I suspect more practical) new ones.
It was a barrel of laughs to drive, kinda lost out on the open road, but a great in town, better than a Smart Car.
i really like it...but i really like daihatsus..owned a few over the years and they never gave a single bit of trouble....wish id kept my late, lamented move..850cc of buzzsaw malevolence in a wardrobe styled body...carrying capacity of the tardis and maintenance costs of a swiss army knife..
