Sorry m8, but I used to have a couple of old 70s 1000cc Minis and travelled all over the country following Stock Cars without any problems, but I'll agree with the last comment regarding the seating. They were just as reliable as any other 60s and 70s car and went ok if properly looked after.

Funnily enough I did just that in a 1000cc Mini in 1978. Two adults and two very small children who couldn't see each other over the mounds of luggage that separated them in the back seat! Plus a roof rack with more luggage. Eventually got to the Val d'Anniviers in Switzerland with no problems. Pushed our luck too much and tried to drive over the Simplon pass into Italy - the thermostat went but was soon fixed by efficient Swiss mechanic and return journey to UK was trouble free. So it can be done! But never again with regards to driving position.
