Thanks barky. I hadn't a clue what he was on about.
There's another topic here:
First Time Buyer Advice

That's perfectly good and contains people's advice on what a 17yr old first time buyer should get.

It's bad enough that we have to pay so much in taxes to keep four wheels on the road, before realising that none of it is ploughed back into 'educayshun'

...natural selection should ensure that he is unable to read any road signs warning of potential hazards and as a result of this ends up as another sad 'new driver' statistic before he is able to breed with any livestock and perpetuate his superb genetic lineage.....

Comrade Bliar and his cronies have a lot to be ashamed about if this is a typical example of his 'edukashun policee'.
How on earth can he complete any official documents if we can't even understand what is being said here?
And he must have a VERY thick skin to keep coming back for more after what has been said already. No wonder over 10% of the native population are heading for the exits as fast as they can.
I despair.

Yes - 10 percent of the intelligent, law abiding, tax paying decent residents are leaving.

Did you know SR71 that one in 3 children cannot read or write by the time they are 11. Thats disgusting.

I went to a really unpleasant sink comprehensive when i came to the UK in the middle of a council estate, but by the time i was 10 i could read, write and spell every word in the English dictionary, with proper punctuation. By the time I was 13 I was getting things published as star letters in the motoring magazines, yet the teaching standard in the school was awful.

I think there is more to today's literacy problems than there seems at first.

What scares me is that the DSA are about to issue this individual and thousands like him with a license to drive a motor vehicle!

I think he says he wants to drive buses and HGVs. Are you sure he's not just Palmira's alter-ego?
Some kind of mutant sibling from the depths of Wales?

I cant remember the last time I saw a Maestro Van. I remember BT using them in the late 80s in yellow, and early 90s in grey.

Surely theyve all shuffled off the automotive coil by now?

All this talk of Maestro Vans reminds me that in 1993, I did a due diligence for the sale of a "third party servicing outfit" at that time owned by the retailer.

The General Manager for Scotland spent a lot of time complaining to myself and the prospective purchaser (famous Scottish businessman)that his Company Car was a 323 BMW, and his position must warrant a 5 series or similar. The purchaser (driving an elderly but immaculate S Class) and I heard this at least 10 times in the course of the two days. Eventually the purchaser turned to the GM and said "I believe the BMW is an unsuitable car for you, it's still possible to get a Maestro (Romania rejects being sold in UK at the time), and that would be my ideal car for you".
