The derv, above, has the perfect 2-litre road engine. A nice and easy tickover, gives way to decent shove, from as little as 1,500 rpm, due to the lag-free, sequential turbos arrangement. From there, power builds evenly, to the rev limit of 5,100 rpm, although such is the power and torque at 4,400 rpm, that's all you need to use, for very rapid progress. In-gear shove is huge and there's no need to scrabble down 3 gears, when you decide to go for that gap which unexpectedly appeared, as you would have to in the ITR! Great engine and 40 mpg as a bonus!
the UK market 2.0 honda engine is 240bhp and 153lbft as standard. the supercharger takes it to 300bhp not sure how much torque though, but being belt driven will be instant responce from low rpm then it just gets more and more to the rev limiter.
....... There's got to be a hundred reasons why i should listen to diesel owners, but right now, i can't think of any.
I don't like either engine; the petrol because you have to rev it too much & the diesel because of the narrow power band & the horrible noise, but I have to say, a straight choice out of the 2 & it would have to be the 123D.

The 123d doesn't have a narrow powerband in real life!

so your choice of engine is based on the fact that its not sold in the uk but is one found in some cars you might find in some imports on uk roads, and thats the one honda is giving away free...? i'm not sure what the poll is meant to be looking for really. can i just aswell ask which would people prefer: the 1.8 diesel 60bhp engine found in the 90's ford fiesta or the 189bhp 1.8 petrol found in the official uk integra. both 1.8 engines so its a proper comaprison yes? lets weigh them up.

Bamford I think that is a not a like for like comparison but if so I will take the BMW. A better comparison is a 335i and 335d in which case I will have the 335i.
The options are fine. Well-respected N/A petrol with c.200 bhp or modern diesel with c.200 bhp. It seems you are rather out of date with your diesel views, by the looks of the vote!
After much deliberation (okay, not a lot), I'm choosing the Honda engine. It's a coupe, and a Boig coupe at that, so no need for practical compromises here.
