This car really is a great driver's car. Mucho fun if not cossetted comfort!
Everyone, just about, who has seen it, really likes it. I have taken it to several car meets and a couple of people have come out in it, they both loved the revvy performance and also the sound this engine makes, especially the howling intake noise, caused through a carbon fibre airbox you could lose a football in!
The car looks great in the flesh, the beautiful, lightweight, wide wheels are just right and the lower overall stance than the stock M3 makes it look mean and moody. The big weight saving over the normal M3 can be clearly felt in the performance too.
Really pleased i bought this car. Reportedly the lowest mileage rhd car in the world, only 422 were ever made in rhd apparently. Future values are secured on these cars if kept well. This car might be a few weeks over 3 years old, but is like new.
Big change from my 535d M Sport but a change i am glad i made. The mapped diesel was simply awesome though, i may well get a similar engined car some time in the future, so good was it.
All going well with the new wheels and i hope to see Noxide and Roma (plus Palmy?) late next month in it.
If you can live with the fact that everyone will think you are a tosser and will not let you out of junctions because you drive a Beemer, then fine.
If you can live with the fact that the CSL is a noisier, much less comfortable place to be than the already awful-ride M3, then fine.
If you can live with the fact that the miniscule performance advantage over a stock M3 is unnoticible on UK roads, especially given our strict speed limits and heavy traffic, then fine.
If you can live with the fact that the stock M3 is actually a better car, then fine.
If you can live with the fact that the car screams "tiny penis", being as it is the automotive equivalent of a bad toupee (you are 50 next year), then fine.
Personally, I think it is an awful car, but each to their own. You should have gone for the RS4 - a greatly superior car in every way.
being as it is the automotive equivalent of a bad toupee ......... You should have gone for the RS4.
...The RS4 being the automotive equivalent of bad facial hair.
Carbon fibre toupe or chrome beard ..... it's a toughie.

I disagree. I am not a fan of the M3, but the CSL is a different proposition. Much more focused, notably quicker especially around a track.
I certainly wouldn't like to come up against one. I think you'd be rather suprised at the results of a track duel between the two.. the RS4, while brimming with grunt, is one heavy understeery beast of a car.
I just think that someone who is 50 should have settled down and drive something that is a little less... combover...mid-life crisis etc Perhaps something more suited to his reactions and physical state - Smart Fortwo or something slower.

Yeah, but we need the opinions of a 39 year old who still lives with his mum in her basement, yasee Noxy, otherwise the CSL cannot be any good.
Well done Bakewell, you've seen pictures of my car. Gold star
As a car enthusiast who studies reports, views in-depth comparisons, attends regular car meets, motorsport and track days, I feel I may just have something to offer here Bakewell.
Put the RS4 and M3 CSL out on a track together, and the CSL will record the faster times.

You mistakenly believe that everyone who has ever disagreed with you is the same person, when in reality, the only common factor is you and the way you conduct yourself. I know that you are not ignoring the posts, so why pretend.
Just hit the ignore button Noxy, this idiot will never learn, even when olive branches are offered. He has never had a decent car in his life, he is just bitter and jealous, that comes across in all his names.

So if we examine the two cars, even taking into account the RS4 has 4WD and the M3 rwd. the tremendous weight hampers the RS4 so much that the CSL is already up by two tenths of a second in just 400 meters.
Put that on a track with a much better, balanced chassis of the CSL and the significantly reduced weight pronouncing the agility and cornering ability of the car (no one in the industry disputes that weight doesn't have this effect) and you will see the CSL sailing away.
There can be no doubt, Bakewell. The facts are there, the theory is there.
