Well why not, there are already plenty diesel convertibles on offer. You can hear the clatter and smell the fumes much better, apparently. If you like that sort of thing.

Must have been the cheapest in the country then. Most 56platers are nearer 10k.
What's wrong with it?

2 owners and high miles, but mint.

I presume, with just 130 bhp, it is a HH? I'd say yes, as it is pretty nifty in practice, if not stunningly fast on paper.
It's amazing how this car has achieved cult status, yet the Seat Ibiza with the same engine & more power is largely forgotten!

Yeah, the 160 bhp Ibiza is good.

Fabia vRS went today. £8600. I have now got the urge to get a hot derv, with a better staring point! 123D, here we come! (When values have dropped a bunch!)

Our resident C4 motoring forum Skoda fan will be less than impressed, but then again, he gets to go in the 420 bhp XKR Sunday!

Think he means me, barky! I'm quite happy getting a trip in the jag, though, was rather afraid he'd have sold it before I got chance!! Why such a quick sale, B - profit??

Fancy a CZT in the meantime?

At a great price? Maybe! I sold it because i wanted a better starting point for a derv HH, Blair.

So, did you like the V8 supercharged 4.2 XKR Cat, 308?

Yep, certainly did - Nox and PB can keep their stripped down extreme cars, I prefer a bit of luxury... and if it goes fast all the better! Thanks, B!

Not sure I'd call a Rover or a Saab a stripped down extreme car, but OK!

Despite everyone moaning about the cost of motoring, there seem to be plenty of cars around that are fun, fast and frugal. I had a quick look at the prices of these and the levels of depreciation are laughably low. In fact it really would be better buying new than 2nd hand once youve added in the relative value of warranty, thrill of buying new etc, spec choice. VRS : What an excellent ownership proposition Czech it out!

The vRS or an Ibiza 160 TDI are both very good.

Your AX was, and the Rover's been modd'd - I though PB also liked these sorts of motors, might have been wrong, though! Just not my cup of tea, Nox, nothing against your likes, the XKR just appeals far more for road use!

It is a fantastic car, it should be for £70K new!

I am on the look out for a diesel as am gonna have a longer commute. Sat in a 2nd hand VRS the other week at a dealer. was a bit put off by the cheapish dash which is only slightly differant to my sister in laws base 1.2 Fabia. The seats were nice. For some reason I always get negative views on the Ibiza equivalent. Is the Fabia really any better ? have tended to cross SEAT's off my list
|
| |
|

|
They are virtually the same car, just that Skoda has a better reputation for putting them together better!
BTW the dash will be exactly the same as in the 1.2, just a few extras - I'd hardly call the dash "cheap", unless you mean minimilist - its well put together and solid - my last one lasted 6 years and didn't squeek, groan or fall to bits - hardly a sign of cheapness!
