I have a Halfords one which I keep in the garage. Never used it on a car, but have occasionally used it on motorcycles. It is a combination of a Power Pack and a trickle charger. Been fine for its purpose.
this is the time of year that a battery nearing the need of its life will tend to let you down, if its an old battery & keeps losing charge perhaps get a new one?? could be cheaper than getting a starting charger / power pack ???

I think the weather plays its part, but my dealer thinks that somewhere in the system the electrics are draining the battery when the vehicle is stationary. I have had two new batteries in six weeks and confidence has gone.

Process of elimination. Leave the car at night with the battery charged up a bit after a run and remove a fuse. Come back in the morning , replace the fuse and start it up. Keep going until it starts up without any noticable drain and you will have identified the circuit with the problem.

Personally, with a good battery, I can leave one for three weeks or so with an alarm and immobiliser and it starts well.
You need an electrician or a mate handy with a multimeter. Depending if the battery can be disconnected safely or not. Using a multimeter in the circuit you can identify which fused circuit is pulling the battery down.
Thanks for the suggestions but the car is still in warranty and the dealer is doing his best to sort it but every time he thinks he's got the problem it recurs somewhere else.
