dunno if this is right but i thought by EU law all cars must have hydrallic power steering even if they have electric steering kind of like a fail safe, i am probaly wrong as i dont read the most reliable sources.

some power steering sytems are spot on....most of the big bmws iv owned have steering that weights up beautifully the faster you go...as did my citroen cx....very light at town speeds, heavy at 100mph!!...for years audi power steering was dreadful, lifeless, feeless, the absolute worst.....i believe it can be a good addition to a performance car if it has the correct weighting and feel...some systems are overassisted and lifeless....see most american cars for reference.....
