Can some of you seasoned enthusiasts enlighten me of the Porsche lineup. Who's the big daddy at the top of the pile. Maybe include only the coupes (i.e. no convertibles or cayenne Crazy) and no race/track specials. I know there is the boxster, cayman (gayman) and 911. Then we have carrera and the turbo nutters of all or some models. OMG this is getting exhausting trying to work it out from the Porsche website. Over to you.

Without even looking, it has to be 997 turbo, 997 GT3 RS and the 997 GT3 at the top.
The lesser 997s are next.
The Gayman is a car which could be incredible, but isn't, as it must not tread on the 911's toes.
Give the 'Cayman R' the 400 bhp it deserves and watch it sell!

GT2 is above the GT3 too isn't it??

I've always seen the Boxster at the bottom, then the cayman - isn't hard to figure out the order of those as there's only a few.

As for the 911 (and this is in order of power)... Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S, Carrera 4S, Targa... GT3, GT3 RS, Turbo, GT2.

GT2 is quite a wild beast, the 997 TT is a better road car.

They're all either 3.6 or 3.8 (although there's quite a few different capacities), so I'm not sure.

There's a 3596, 3824 and a 3600cc. One wonders why they have 2 different engines with only 4cc difference...

The 3596 and 3600cc engines will be the same engine, just magazines etc will round it up to 3600 (3.6). There are just the two engines to the best of my knowledge, 3596 and the 3824.

I thought that would have been the case... but in TG is lists both. Depends when the different models were added I guess.

I'd quite fancy a Turbo actually Cool

The 911 Carrera must be the biggest rip-off in motoring.

Quite why it costs so much more than the Cayman or Boxster is staggering.

Are 2 almost useless rear seats, 200cc & a bit more power worth all that much?

If you want a Porsche, no questions asked, you buy the Boxster.

If want a Porsche but don’t want people to think you’ve bought the poor-mans Porsche because you are a cock, buy the Cayman (Actually, this has happened to such an extent that the more expensive Cayman is widely regarded as the poor mans Porsche).

If you ever wanted to know what happens if you put the engine in the boot try the Carrera 2..

If above but have serious questions over your driving ability, go for the Carrera 4.

If you want to trim an average of 0.2 seconds off the 0..62 time, try the S models over the standards versions

If you want to get to 62 in 4.3 seconds, buy the GT3.

If want to cut it down to 3.9 secs, buy the Turbo.

If 3.9 is too slow, go for the GT2 at 3.7 seconds.

If you live in Guildford, buy a Cayenne.

Some impressive 0-62 times listed above.Makes the GT-R time even more incredible at official 3.5 secs (independent tests quote 3.3sec) for a lardy 1820 kg 4WD sports coupe. Porsche and other exotica metal all of a sudden look real poor value for money.

0-60 isn't important, for several reasons.
But the car itself is great.
