Hi All I recently bumped the back of someones car, i was only going about 5 miles an hour and rolled into the back of it as the person in front was trying to pull off an island. There is no damage to my car whatsoever. She rang me on the night it happened and said her parking sensor wasnt working, and that she would get her husband to look at it, and if he couldnt do it, she would get 2 quotes. 2 weeks later ive had a phone call saying she has had the repairs done and now wants £350. She also said at the time that this was the 8th time this has happened to her now (but when questioned later said it wasnt in this car!) She didnt bother to ring me to say the car was going in for repair and now im being faced with a bill for £350!! What do I do? Do i just pay it or.... HELP!
Yeah just pay up and stop wimpering. Last week someone almost rear ended me when I was stopped at the back of a line of traffic in a village; I heard the screech of tyres and a plume of smoke drifted past me, looking in the mirror the dozy mare had just managed to stop without hitting me... if she had made contact it would have been her fault and she would now be in the process of paying to get my car fixed.
She just got the car fixed and sent you the bill for £350. No insurance details exchanged? I smell a rat....she's uninsured. Also, I smell another rat, have you seen the bill? Ask her for the invoice and evidence that the work has been completed.
Stand your ground and make sure all the bases are covered. Its your dough.
Going back to the original Q, did you exchange details, including insurance details? Also did you see if the car actually had reversing sensors??
I also smell a rat, and would be reluctant to pay out at this stage - a 5mph bump up the rear would not normally cause any damage to either car, the bumpers are designed to absorb an impact of that speed - so I would like to know how they get the bill up to £350?
