Which motor would YOU want to go into your personally-designed, beautiful-looking, well-equipped, big 4x4, as in a Range Rover, Cayenne, etc?

Question:
As above!

Choices:
AUDI 6.0L V12 TWIN-TURBO DIESEL.
RANGE ROVER 4.8L V8 SUPERCHARGED PETROL.
PORSCHE 4.5L V8 TWIN-TURBO PETROL.
BMW 4.4L V8 TWIN-TURBO PETROL.
FORD (US) 7.3L V8 TURBO DIESEL.

I'd have 2 vw supercharged/turbocharged 1.4s ... one up front & one under the rear seats ... or more seriously (perhaps) a diesel-electric hybrid setup using an audi 3.0tdi (maybe even a slightly smaller tdi)

a monster engine like that is, of course rarther pointless unless fitted to an hgv or adapted for marine use .... just being outrageous in a passenger car .. even a sports car

No, in a car weighing 2 and a half tons, the extra weight the Audi engine has, (and it weighs less than most people think), doesn't matter!
You don't buy the bigger 4x4 cars for light weight!
If you are going to have a huge and heavy car, make sure you have a huge and grunty engine to go with it!
What would be absurd, is a 2-litre engine in a giant 4x4!

I'd have the Diesel V8 in the RR

I'm looking forward to seeing just how good the V12 TD can be.

Didn't Land Rover build a 2 litre petrol Disco back in the day? I believe they called it the MPi and used the engine from a Montego, needless to say it didn't sell well.

Friend took me for a spin in his Dodge Ram 2500 a while back. More torque than the vw v10 diesel, and for a huge truck it had plenty of pick and go.

Just had to pay attention to the signs on bridges that said no vehicle over 3.5 ton, as we were... which is just ridiculous as he uses it as his main car.

As i posted a while back, i went in a diesel pick-up truck with 800 bhp and 1200 lbs-ft.
That thing was immense in every way.
7.3 litres of twin-turbo V8 grunt.

The Porsche 4.5 V8 twin turbo for me.

It's a shame that this magnificent engine in under the bonnet of one of the ugliest cars ever. Mad

VW should get that engine for their Touareg R50, instead of the 5.0 V10 TDI (which is already in the range).
