Folks are still raving about "technology" that does 20mpg. Whopee-doo-yawn.

If u dont like fuel prices,
A) try living near where you work
B) getting a fuel economic car.

A) I would hate to live near to a hospital; it's a nightmare with parking & traffic etc.

B) EVERYBODY is concerned about fuel prices, not just people with fuel guzzlers.

Why should people be ripped off, which is basically what is happening in the UK at the moment?

I know that things have to be paid for, but do you honestly believe that the current fuel prices are justified?

Of course not and if we just accept it, what happens when it's £1.50 a litre and crime goes through the roof when people need it but can't buy it?

I don't think the current level of TAX on fuel is justified at the moment, we are not getting a decent return for our investment - as regards the actual price we are charged by the Oil Cos, excluding tax, I reckon thats about right....

if everyone used their cars more responsibly and walked or cycled when necessarry, utilised car sharing, if public transport was more useable and cheaper, we would all behitting the petrol companies where it hurts..their collective pockets..

Sounds a lot in isolation - but look how much it costs them in finding and then developing new sites for oil production - and also look at the sheer size of the companies... also at the end of the day they are there to make a profit!

Much of those profits are used for R&D and a lot of the rest goes to shareholders... our future Pensions in many cases!

..any reason the real world cant be this way...i know you, myself and many otehrs on here cycle when possible....with a bit of education, surely this kind of responsibility could be more widespread...

its gonna take the car, ANY car to become what is considered a luxury item, a fripperry, before people are willing to take the steps they should have taken to safeguard their lifestyles in teh first place...

True. I recently changed bikes and do enjoy keeping fit on it.

Intercity flying is often cheaper than intercity rail travel in this country!

How can that be so? Confused

So much for the environment & carbon footprints that they keep brainwashing us with! Eek Roll Eyes

Advance or last-minute tickets make both methods of trasnport (plane and train) cheap - but when the press compare them with cars the full prices are always quoted, which then means that car is cheapest followed by trains then planes....

If anyone has seen the Sun in the last day or two they will see the latest example for this "selectve" comparison - interestingly the majority of full price tickets are paid for by businesses who don't care about the price as they just pass the cost onto us.... Roll Eyes

Air fares are usually boosted by £40+ each way taxes and baggage now.
I bought 2 'free' return flights today for Geneva.
The cost?
£102.90.
