it seems the powers that be arent as willing as others to celebrate 31 years of me being on this Earth. I may have trotted around it and moved to different parts of it, but remarkably after 31 years I am still standing...
Shame they deleted it , not sure why....
Oli old bean - jolly good show.
Cursed bicycle is back to normal now after lots of vulcanization and a new inner tube....

Good lord, Barky.. did you think I was Nifty, Thrifty and Over Fifty?! Not quite yet!!
Ah, Bamford thats good, I would have been rather surprised had they taken exception to me celebrating a birthday. That would have been bad sportsmanship indeed!

In this Quarter's edition of Milestones, the IAM magazine, there was a remarkable story of a 93 year old gentleman who had been a car enthusiast all his life.
Today, at the age of 93, he drives a new Jaguar XKR, and rides a new BMW K1200LT touring bike.
There was a picture of him with his motorcycle, which i thought was quite amazing.
He must be physically and mentally fit, as well as extremely up to date with everything, including modern traffic.
This gentleman claims to have been an IAM member for over 40 years, and has NEVER had a road accident of any kind, fault or non-fault.
I thought at first glance, he must have not had any accidents because maybe like alot of pensioners, he doesnt drive or ride very often.
I read on to find he either drives his car or rides his motorcycle every day!

I am indeed. I have the big 'five-zero' in March, Barky!
Old eh?
The upsides are that i pay a pittance to fully insure a M3 CSL and also it means that i got to go flat out in every one of my cars and on every one of my bikes for 20 years, whilst we still had no speed cameras, the roads were empty (ish) and when they had to stop you physically to get you done.
Those were the days. The days when you could actually use performance every day.
Woe is me I learned to drive in 2001 (I was 19) so have had to contend with speed cameras from day one. I've got many years of motoring hell to look forward to as Tony tightens his grip upon us all!
Motoring's still great Alfisti, but there is zero doubt that sports cars are terribly limited on the road now. To be perfectly honest, one upside to today's driving conditions is that a really good driver can spend £10,000 and stay with 99% of what he meets, 99% of the time. Ten grand spent on, say, a nice Evo 7 with 300 bhp and not too many are gonna get away from you too often. Not many cars are significantly faster, plus traffic, cameras, the fact many can't people drive quickly well enough, etc.
I'd say a lot of people can't drive slowly well enough either. I was stuck behind some kind of twit in a saxo yesterday doing 40mph along the centre of a B road when I wanted to do 60, and then we got to a 30 limit, so I slowed down but they carried on at the same speed… it's so annoying! To make things even worse the previous day I was stuck behind a Picasso on the same stretch of road and they were driving such a bad line that at some points I literally could have undertaken them.
