Someone just asked me what the most reliable car i have ever had was. That's tough, because SO many have never gone wrong! Mulling it over, it has to be something like my 1982 Corvette 350ci. Why? By the time i sold that car, it had 133,000 miles on the clock and had only ever been serviced and given new tyres and two lots of brakes. That was it. It even gave 25 mpg on a run, which was damn good back then.
Hear hear!! haha my V8 F-150 has about 150,000 miles on the clock now and is still going strong. 18MPG on a good day
I read an article just recently about Ford and GM cancelling development on new V8 engines in part due to the new CAFE standards. Bit of a shame really, but understandable.

Latest Corvette engine is a perfect example of this, lots of power and decent MPG. I could see a C6 being on the shortlist for my next car.
The 7,011 cc Z06 is possibly the finest road car engine yet. Over 500 bhp as std. 1,000 bhp possible, with tuning. Economical, for the power. Bulletproof. Sensible cost, both to buy and run. Lovely-sounding. No Ferarri 575-type repair nightmares!
I could be wrong but the large block engine has a longer piston stroke and larger cylinder size. Where the small block engine is a faster reving engine due to it's shorter piston stroke.

Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that, who cares? ...He's a mile away and you've got his shoes.
ok i googled it. apparently one is small the other is big. so 7 litres is the small one. flippin nora. i think i want a 900cc 3 cylinder aygo again now. but i like the simplicity of single camshafts running 2 vees, and you can get deeper valve curtain using pushrods.
'Small blocks', can be very big and 'big blocks' can be average size! The small block tends to be the one used for sporty applications. Generally more over-square and revvier than the biggies.
I used to follow 'The World of Outlaws' in the USA a lot and i got to know V8s quite well. The usual way to tell a 'big' from a 'small' block, is the exhaust pipe spacing. Take a look some time!
maybe i'm going a bit soft in my old age but my current desktop image is one of the new dodge challengers ... head on
