i would buy the full size full fat rangey or volvo xc90 v8 if i was in this market.....i really dont like the rr sport....a ridiculous amount of money for a discovery with a baseball cap on...backwards..!!...i just love the sheer improbability of the big jeep tho...millenium falcon performance in uncle jessie'e ol dungarees.....good ol boy performance car
The RRS is slower, and less well made than the Cayenne. Has no real loadspace, and a mediocre interior. The Cayenne is enormously capable, check some of the videos on Porsches website.

I had a glance in one the other day and I have to say, the interior plastics looed cheap. And I don't mean jaguar cheap, I mean Kia cheap.
I think the Cayenne interior is very good, actually. No fussy lines or tacky feel. Are you sure it was a Cayenne you were looking in and not a Kia?
The Cayenne may be capable compared to other luxury 4x4's but I wouldn't go thinking it's a great off roader. Besides, most of them will never go off road so I struggle to see the point in all the money Porsche put into the Cayenne to make it as good off road as a 911 on stilts can be.
I still think the Cayenne steering wheel especially looks really cheap. And that the choice of colours isn't very good for the interior or exterior. That said I've not seen the interior close up (though I've seen one or two driving around and there is no doubt they're fugly on the outside) so the steering wheel may not look and feel as cheap as it seems in detailed pictures.
q7 almost, ALMOST makes cayenne seem acceptable...till ya see a cayenne again..then ya realise they are both cynical german marketing ploys to part fools from money in a big way....
The Cayenne has a great interior, and looks OK form the outside too. Mine is Carmon Red Metallic with Sand beige leather.
That's nice, I still think my Q7 is better. It has wings, and space in the back for my troop of flying pigs. The interior is made of solid gold, and the exterior is in "Not quite true.." beige.
surely any car that takes up more space than it needs and uses more fuel than it needs is pointless.....a ferrari or pagani is pointless....i generally dont like these suv thingys and particularly dislike the porsche...but hey, jeep have always made 4x4, its not as if they are cashing on a niche market like porsche, audi et al are...they are competing in a market they helped invent!!....
Great, now incompetent SUV drivers not only benefit from the ability to destroy anything they crash into (cars, pedestrians, cyclists, barriers, school gates, bollards, their own ) but they can do it at the kind of speeds normally seen on a race track.
If people buy SUVs because they claim to feel safer in them, why give them the kind of performance that would embarass an AC Cobra? Its about as sensible as giving chainsaws to football hooligans.

Nah, Bamford is gone so I can't wind him up anymore. Although an Aston Martin Vanquish sometimes appears on my driveway out of nowhere... That of course means the colours change frequently.
It's amazing how people slate cars that they have never even sat in, yet alone driven.
They read some article from some jumped up motoring hack & just follow parrot fashion what they say.
What is so awful about the SRT8?
Is it the fact that it hasn't got a BMW badge on it's bonnet & tailgate or that Jeremy Clarkson said it was rubbish, because he is a rubbish driver that couldn't get it to 'handle' like he wanted?
I like the way it looks & all that power for about £40,000 cannot be sniffed at.
____________________________ We can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world's first Bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better....stronger..faster.....cue the cheesy 70's music!!!

Well said Mr Austin!!!
A lot of people do form their opinions based on what Clarkson or some other equally misinformed journo might say, without ever actually setting foot in the said vehicle.
People also have to bear in mind that all things are relative.
Yes, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 is probably not as good a car as the Cayenne Turbo or x5 4.8 iS, but then it costs a lot less than them, so that is OK isn't it?
Actually, I couldn't care less about what Clarkson says, and I don't get Top Gear over here.
I have, however, driven a Grand Cherokee. Not the SRT8 granted, but the same car with a different engine none the less.
It really, really wasn't nice. Interior was awful, steering, handling, transmission.. Bascially anything to do with actually driving the car, was horrible.
I realise it's alot of power for the money, and if that's what you're after, buy an Evo or some second hand rocket. You won't enjoy the Jeep.
Unless, of course, your goal is to bleat on about having the "fastest Ess Yew Vee" out there and pretend you're a rugged outdoors type. You'll love it then.
