i think the 350z is cool. which counts for a lot when choosing cars. not really in competition with evo/subaru as its not a standard saloon based 4wd car. its a rwd coupe. 350z also has the bonus of being a drivers car with rewarding handling and nice v6 power. the 310ps version is the one to have, though i expect the older 280ps version is fine. i'm looking forward to the small Z car nissan will make in a year or 2.
....... There's got to be a hundred reasons why i should listen to diesel owners, but right now, i can't think of any.
I hope they are good! I've got one on order for as soon as they arrive in Dubai! Not driven the 310ps version yet but the old 290ps one wasn't too shabby. Gonna be interesting to compare it to the MkV gti i've also got.
Test drove one in March. I've renamed it the death buggy as it kept trying to throw us into trees. Yes granted, it was wet, our back roads have seen better days and I was trying my darnest to put it through it's paces.
Brought a BMW 335i instead - that doesn't try & kill me - yet.

The 2 good cars out next year seem to be the Mondeo 2.2 twin-turbo diesel estate and the Evo X. Practical, good handling and good performance for each of their categories.

Well the Mondeo 2.2 will arguably be one of the best family cars for the money.
If you want a more involving car there's the Evo X. 350Z vs Evo X I'd take the Evo for the better performance, practicality and handling. The only reason you'd want a 350Z is if you wanted a cut-price Cayman S.
Also Evo rates the new 350Z above the Z4. As for a cut price Cayman S, I couldn't agree more having driven a Cayman S and gone through the process of speccing one up with the dealer I just can't see why you'd get the Cayman. Everything, and I mean everything, is extra in a Cayman. You want Porsche embossed head rests equivalent of £300 here, you want Posrche centre caps on the wheels thats extra, you want PASM yup extra, you want the auto box thats extra, carpets...extra you see where I'm going with this?
I honestly liked the Cayman (slower than I was expecting it to be but handled like a dream) but there is no way to justify the price of the extras.
So for a smidge over the equivalent of £20k for a GT spec 350Z there was no doubt in my mind that the 350Z is a better choice. Obviously that's a personal opinion and am expecting to be flamed from here to the ends of the earth by the 'purists'. But roll on November when the Z will be here!

i read it today. the first tester is nuts. i like the 350z and i had one myself but no way is it evo360 quick.
The 350Z is one of the greats of the decade. If you ever have the chance to buy one, go for it.
