yet thats the attraction for me..it IS old school wallop dressed in a sharp suit..more arnie dressed in boss than a bruising bodybuiler dressed head to toe in gorrilla wear...dont get me wrong, the carlton is on my all time great list, as you know im a big fan of old rwd vauxhallls, and, againt almost any other competitor, id take the luton/hethel crossbreed..but against the audi.....rs2 blend of old school yeehaa power and fantastic cross country ability tips the nod to ingolstadt.....
that said, an original 5 door scooby wagon with a mere 208 hp or so would probably be just as quick, if not quicker, than either cross country..whivh is why i love em too....farmers express...

A 208 bhp Scoob would struggle against the 315 bhp or 376 bhp beasts, i'd guess. The Audi RS2 would surely beat a Scooby with only that output?

You know what's strange? The 450 bhp my Monaro VXR had, never really felt very fast to me!

not alwaus all about power...id say the coob is a much more able, more fluent handler than either....the audi would probably blitz it cross country, and i mwean twisty a or b roads..but the carlton....im not so sure, it would be much more at home on teh autobahn.....
a to b some cars with much less that 200hp, and im thinking elise, caterham etc..are devastatingy quick...

I meant RS2 v 208 bhp Scooby. I don't think the Scoob would know which way the Audi went, a or b road.

think it may be closer than you think....audi i would expect to get home first but with an effort...carlton, despite its prodigous output would struggle on anything other than a big wide autobahn...

i reckon one would be a safe buy even now..sure they are relatively expensive, but a good one will be deprecaiton proof and huge fun during the time you own it....
