Just read the reviews on the evo site for the TT 2.0T and they mention an upcoming quattro version. Will there be a 4motion GTI with the 2.0T engine?

Just wondering as it seems that it would be stepping on the shoes of the 3.2 litre versions. Any idea if/when the 4WD 2.0T will be released?

Meh, I dunno. Would 4wd REALLY help the handling at all? Seems to blunt it every time, except in the banzai Jap weapons. Why do VAG have to have SO many iterations of every damn car anyway?

Still, a 4wd GTI would be nice to have out here for when the snow comes. We don't get R32's, besides, a GTI with 4WD and 500 notes spent on a chip to 250hp would kind of render the R32 completely pointless.

when a german car review programme took a 4wd 4motion golf on the winding tarmac circuit they test the cars on it could not beat the time they set in the fwd lupo gti.
it depends on the roads and how much you can throw the car around as to whats best i guess.

.......
There's got to be a hundred reasons why i should listen to diesel owners, but right now, i can't think of any.

Without a doubt id go for the VW Golf GTI DSG. Wouldnt even hesitate.

If youre comparing cars with 6 cylinders (TT, Golf etc) id go Golf R32 DSG. IMO the Golf R32 is the very best compact performance car in the world. Its that simple.

I saw the new Volvo coupe on my street on Wednesday - that will be very interesting - stylish looking car with echoes of the 480ES and the beautiful P1800. I wish them well.

Focus ST for me please.

While the boring and uni fit Golf is puffing its 4 cylinder, wheezing heart out, I shall be calmly streaming away on top of a wave of muscular 5 cylinder turbocharged effortless warble.

At which point I shall come to a bend and leave it even further behind!

Delightful!

i dont mind that at all..

if i could bloody afford one.. i know for certain i would rip the engine out and slap in an M3 engine ( throttlebodies rule! )

they look slightly wierd ( like theyve been melted under a magnyfying glass... ) but the FR layout makes up for it all.

Twin-turboed MkV R32.

http://www.hpamotorsports.com/

Not available here but 500+ HP with DSG and 4motion would be insane indeed.

Really? I didn't think it was launched yet. Was it a dealers demo car?

Not sure I like the back end tho' front looks minted however.

Noxide is right, the Focus ST would leave the GTI behind, even if it's name is a bit .. dodgy.

V6 over the front wheels on a hatch with a mediocre 4wd system doesn't make for good times.. Golf R32 is yawn worthy.

Until the first dusting of snow...No weight+too much power+no grip=no control.
Loved the 3.0l Supra T, till that happened!

My two peso worth:

1) Agree with Big G, the 130i is a wonderful car to drive, also superb 6 cylinder engine, very tuneful and well balanced power, lovely automatic transmission & RWD. It is a great car but SO ugly and Nox youre right, its disproportionate & the styling is ghastly. I would buy a 7-series if they werent so confounded ungainly to look at.

2) Golf R32 not yawnworthy panther - have you ever driven one? superb car.

3) Nox old bean, do Ford do an Automatic focus ST yet? I knew there were talks of it - Ford make fantastic auto transmissions & that 5 cyl engine & light, balanced chassis are both excellent. I would like one of those if the auto version is available.. Good value too!

4) The Volvo C30 i saw was Left Hand Drive and had Oxfordshire license plates ( beginning OV56) which is where their UK HQ is - Globe business park Marlow on Thames. This one was being driven down my street in London. Lovely looking car i wish them well when it officially hits our streets.

5) Papa Smurf, you dirty blighter. Most ungentlemanly!
