£6000 budget.
Needs to be automatic.
2/4/5 doors fine, but no sports cars, Elise-style.
Saloon or coupe or hatch.
Respectable performance.
Interesting and pretty, if possible.

Suggestions to fit?

I'd say a 406 Coupe!

I have told her to get a 406 Coupe.
Cheap.
Pretty.
Nice 3.0 V6.
Sounds good.
Well equipped.
Easy parts and servicing.

Alfa 147 or 156? Might have a problem with the Selespeed box though.

Another one that popped into my head is a Ford Cougar.

But the 406 coupe would probably be my choice to be honest.

Honda Accord Coupe 3.0 V6. Lovely cruiser - a few Honda dealers should have one with a nice 1-yr warranty.

Mr Boring Reaper has had a 1.8 Honda Accord 1999 ES auto from new – full electric and leather kit with sequential auto box. It is been totally reliable and in my experience this auto box is probably the best I have ever used. Incredibly smooth in full auto mode and a delight to use in “manual” mode.
I have seen similar cars to mine at astonishingly (insultingly) low prices. This make and model IMO is a hidden jewel. I have used, owned and worked at a vast selection of cars since the sixties and I can say without question this is a remarkable car for a second hand buy. In honesty I can say that it gets better the more I drive it – it is just one of those cars and I’m keeping mine. Fully recommended. Thumbs Up

i trust it was cheap...gorgeous cars that unforunately suffer from the usual horrendous depreciation of big french motors....
